hi guys, kinda noob in updating firmware here....wanna ask few questions..

1) is it necessary to update my firmware to 2.2 coz im still in 1.2 now...whats the difference and do i need to jailbreak and unlock it again
2) how cydia differ from installer coz now my phone(jailbroken) is still using the installer but the number of apps seems to be almost the same everytime i refresh..need to add more source mayb??
