I'll be getting my Australia Prepaid (Optus) iPhone 3G this CNY. An unlock request have been put in to Optus/Apple. Should get it around 23rd Jan. The unlock process will be done in Australia/Malaysia depending on when the sms from Apple is receive.

I read that even officially unlock Australia set can be lock back later when we tried to update. I read this AFTER i cfm with my fren to purchase the unit. I did a search and sure enough there r such cases. Just to cfm, my option if this happens is to request for another unlock (submitting IMEI & model num) OR use yellowsnow to unlock. Correct?

I have also been preparing to JB the phone. Downloaded both pwnagetool 2.2.1 and quickpwn 2.2.

1. Which is better? So far its a split between the 2 as I read the forum. But it seems to me that quickpwn install both Cydia & Installer, while pwnagetool allows you to choose one or the other or both. And some of u actually advise against Installer as its unstable. So if dont want Installer, the only option is pwnagetool right?

2. I have read the iClarified instruction page. Since my iPhone has the latest version, do I still need to use the customer firmware? A little confuse about this custom firmware (probably trying to absorb too much in as little time as possible).

3. If the JB didnt go smoothly, do I just re-JB again using pwnage or have to restore using iTunes and JB?

Q: Lets say i use pwnage now, and created the custom firmware (did i write customer??), and later down the road, after installing some 3rd party apps, something went wrong. I can just use pwnage again with the customer firmware to restore the iPhone to where it is now? Skipping iTunes altogether?

Will report back once I get my hands on my 'baby':) 2 more wks to go:(
