that is called tethering. anyway, i have tried my first gen iphone with my macbook (using the USB cable, but i heard (please reconfirm this again) that it works via gigibiru as well) and it works seamlessly but i have yet to try with my XP or vista. furthermore, are you sure that you wanna do that with the first generation iphone? maxis' edge is excruciatingly slow and you might grow a couple of grey hairs during the process. digi would probably be a more suitable alternative. however, if you feel that switching over to another network is too much of a hassle (omit the number portability issue aside), may i suggest that you purchase an aifontrigi instead? this is probably out of the topic, but tethering a mobile phone's unlimited data package violates many telecommunication providers globally (for example AT & T) and they may lower your network speed or suspend your internet usage indefinitely. however, since we are in malaysia, i have never heard of such an incident before. I am planning to get Iphone for doing that. Bro,One of the weaknesses of iphone be it 2G or 3G is that it cannot be used as a modem like the Nokias or the winmobiles for net surfing or internet sharing on the winmo. So if you plan to do so and use an iphone, you might be dissapointed. However you still wanna the iphone, then get an external modem like the Huawei but still use the same line. |

if u want the most easy way for tethering, u can use an AppStore application called NetShare. but the application itself has been pulled from the AppStore.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « but another way is by using iPhone Tunnel Suite, but i haven't tried using that for tethering. so yup, u can do tethering using iPhone cable or wireless. This post has been edited by LaskarCinta: Sep 13 2008, 12:02 PM |

QUOTE(davidgary73 @ Sep 13 2008, 06:13 PM) wow nice. but it also need to be paid (but of course can be used FOC for "trial" use)was really hoping that NetShare will be back online on AppStore. sadly it wont. quoted from the developer's site, QUOTE NetShare, banned from the AppStore September 13th, 2008 Looks like Apple has decided they will not be allowing any tethering applications in the AppStore. As such, NetShare will not be available in the iTunes AppStore. We are seeing a lot of similar reports from various developers who's applications were abruptly removed and banned from the AppStore without any violations of the terms of service. This is all unfortunate news for the iPhone platform end-users. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by LaskarCinta: Sep 20 2008, 03:33 PM |
