i already done install xp os in CQ40-101tu.now my problem is as below

*got many unknow driver
*Sound driver can't get.

i already install kb888111xpsp2-en UAA.but when i install sound driver(IDT),it will come out error or after restart my sound driver gone.
May i know somebody who success install xp os in CQ40-101tu,please give a link to download the driver 3q3q.

i also try that using manual install sound driver,but still can't fix the sound problem.

i also looking on the driver for my CQ45 as well.... stupid HP should provide XP driver la..

they dont provide xp drivers anymore
because those models are intended for vista

why din try search at driverguide.com... maybe the got driver there...

try already.....also using driverscan from driver guilde...also can't get it

i already find almost 1 week jor. Taiwan,China,Malaysia website and forum i also go seach jor,still i can't it.driver guilde and driver planet also no have.now problem dunno is audio driver problem or is UAA problem.

it is the driver problem. i faced similar problem like yours when tried to install XP on CQ50, and the result is I didn't succeed...need to use Vista..

eventhough I installed the correct driver, it simply didnt work. for example, the audio device is actually Conexant SmartAudio 221, but when i tried to installed Conexant SmartAudio 221's XP driver it can't work.

no choice, Vista!

one suggestion from me here.
try use the vista driver to install.

Install it manually. Force installation. it works

those sound driver is almost similar to cq-50 also,have to force install those sound driver..like under have disc part..try browing around..there is the driver..but i forgot which web alrdy..there are steps also..i tried it on cq 50 but the problem i face is the on board mic could not detect any sound but if use an mic n pluged it in it works

this means the driver can't work accordingly..

for sound driver please try force installation if auto detect and install is not working.

i think UAA got problem.

after install UAA promt out audio device,but after restart,audio device is missing again.need to reintall UAA somemore-.-...

if after install UAA,then install audio driver,got sound come out from speaker.but after reastart,all gone !!!!

btw, everytime before you proceed,
please make sure that you uninstall all the driver that you want to change.

if the latest driver encounter the problem,
try the previous version. i give the link to you above and some discussion on hp site.

The sound driver is :

ATI Function Driver for High Definition Audio - ATI 791A

you can manually update the driver from the ATI graphic video driver.


The 7 Unknow Drivers is :

Direct Application Launch Button

you have to manually update the driver from the driver folder.

I managed to install the driver for xp and run smoothly, but there's still a problem: I can't use Fn key to adjust the screen brightness, but other Fn key work properly.

anyone find the solution?

The problem you encounter here is because the quick launch button driver havent been properly installed yet.
you can try window vista version and install it on XP and see how it goes.
