The Deadpool Movie Script is Funny, Smart, Ultra Violent, and Will Give you Geek-Gasms

user posted image

That’s all according to the boys over at CinemaBlend, who got their hands on  the latest draft of the movie by writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (of “Zombieland” fame). So what’s the verdict? “Deadpool” is so good, it has the potential to be the R-rated superhero movie version of “The Dark Knight”. That’s your friggin verdict right there, pal.

The review summarizes it up thusly:

QUOTE
What I’m getting at here is that this is a killer script and more than that, it’s a well-thought out story, which fills in every plot hole and solves every problem that could have been encountered with the character. I can’t imagine anyone doing this any better, and it’s a movie which deserves to be made the right way by the right people.

You can read the full review over at Cinemablend.

As good a script as Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have written, it’ll still be up to Ryan Reynolds to keep this thing good. If Reynolds, for whatever reason, decides to walk away from the movie (you know, reasons like the gazillion other movies and franchises he’s probably being offered right now), then I can’t see a “Deadpool” movie getting made, much less staying faithful to this script and the character we’ve come to know and love from the comics.

My favorite part about the script? Its approach to Deadpool’s ridiculously bullshit appearance in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, which goes something like this:

QUOTE
The script never comes right out and mentions Wolverine, it’s all accomplished through one specific subtle reference, which says everything that needs to be said. It’s as though the character of Deadpool exists in a world where Wolverine is a movie that he’s seen, and hates. Deadpool literally throws everything Wolverine did to screw up this character in the trash can, and then spends the rest of the movie endlessly poking fun at the celebrity of Hugh Jackman.

How much do I want to see that in a movie? Very much, folks. Oh so very much.

I like this one... laugh.gif

Robert Rodriguez Out and Adam Berg in as Deadpool Director?

user posted image

The latest news on the movie based on the merc with a mouth has Robert Rodriguez, the fanboy choice for director, once again leaving the project and a new candidate emerging to take his place. His name? Adam Berg.

“Adam Berg? Who the hell is Adam Berg?”

Good question. The LATimes has your answer:

QUOTE
Berg has never directed a feature before, but he gained plenty of acclaim with “Carousel,” a stylish short (you can check it out below) made for Philips Electronics that won the prestigious Cannes Lions International Advertising prize. In a one-take freeze-frame, the short tells of a bank heist in a manner that evokes both “The Town” and “The Dark Knight.

Apparently both the producers of “Deadpool” and the man who would play Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds digs Berg’s work on “Carousel”, which was enough to make him the frontrunner to land the gig.

So what do you think, does the guy who directed the short below have what it takes to direct a “Deadpool” movie?

The above commercial is done by director Adam Berg... and I believe... you probably think "who is Adam Berg"...

Watch the commercial and judge...

ARGH. More speculation. Darn.

Now if it was Peter Berg, at least we'd know what to expect. smile.gif

Finally, official release date confirmation from Fox. Feb 12 2016. Now the only remaining question, will it be awesome as the leaked test footage?

Would be better if we could see a Avengers-Xmen crossover. Too bad it can't be done.

Origins Magneto project was dumped a long time ago. Whatever Magneto's origins stuff seen in First Class is what's left of it.
