Hard to maintain for watercooling
Preventing algae is an issue, if you arent overclocking there are no tangible advantage apart from being quieter
Its fun to play with watercooling setup, but if u arent a hardcore overclocker, the novelty wears of pretty soon

Yeah it looks cool, played with the 2g version, 5 minutes later BORED
But i wont refuse one as a second phone or a toy tho

P&S is very much different from a DSLR
The freedom and accuracy in metering for example

I would say flash unit arent needed until later, some one once told me, its better to learn to shoot in darker areas without a flash unit and you'll learn how to meter and hold a camera steadily
Extra lenses is a must, thats one of the disadvantage of dslr compare to a P&S but can be an advantage too

Hobbies are always expensive
I've reduced my hobbies for a few years now to save money
Recently the itch is back

I dont like bulky phones
Prefer slim phones

I'm on a watercooling set up now. Maintenance is actually a non-issue. I've not done anything to the set up for a year or so already I do check, and nothing's wrong with it They sell plenty of proper fluids for you nowadays, so algae and all, non-issue already.

Yeap, I know how metering works, aperture, shutter speed, exposure, ISO settings etc. I would still get a flash unit early on, it really helps improve the shots and lighting conditions, its indispensable really. Actually I think the lenses are an advantage more than a disadvantage. I plan to share lenses with my friend, so we save costs Since we take different types of photography, I like taking landscape and macro, he likes taking portraits

The thing I like most about DSLRs, is their focus points! P&S cameras do not have that ability sadly. Canon 1000D has a 7 focus-point system, which is pretty good, 9-point would be nice though.


I have my model kit building hobby as well
Not to mention books (wahhh expensive la lately)... hobbies really drain your wallet.

I was one of those who jumped on the watercooling bandwagon, back then it was much more fun, you have to know how to pair your waterblocks, cooling coils from junk shops, enheim pumps and so on, also back then we used those liquid meant for acquariums
Mine has got algae after a few years
Then i left the hardware fetish hobby, but maintaining an ok speced and reasonbly clocked pc, 2.4 to 3.06 ghz


The disadvantage i meant was cost
A decent 24-70 f2.8 cost like 6k +
70-200 f2.8 cost around the same
and then the landscape lenses 10-20 costs around 2k+
blehh
