What drivers should i download for my CQ40-133AX, ati radeon hd 3450? T_T Btw, i managed to install xp, other drivers are okay, just graphics drivers only T_T

i actually managed to install the gpu driver by adding my hardware id to the driver's inf file but this is even better thanks!

I believe xp the 32-bit version can only show up to 3.3gb of ram. If i'm not mistaken, the 64-bit version resolves this issue, or just install vista.

Really? i tried left4dead and it was quite playable, on 1280x800 and max settings except no aa, avg around 20-30fps. if i tone down the reso or settings i can probably achieve 30-50fps.
i can play doom 3/quake 4/prey etc etc on max also, with no aa, avg 35-40fps.
i can even play oblivion on max with no aa, but gotta tweak it 1st before it can achieve a playable state. have yet to try fallout 3 though. gonna try bioshock too.

alah...pretty awesome di a RM2099 laptop can even touch those games. i think bioshock should be playable also on med-low. i think fallout 3 should be getting around the same fps as oblivion, since same engine anyway, my crappy desktop have similar performance for both games anyways.

i agree its quite a low end gpu but with a little intuition and moderate to low settings alot of games can be played, even slightly newer ones.

btw, anybody know how to oc the gpu? the hd3450 on the 133/134ax model. i tried using rivatuner but rivatuner didnt even detect my card, then i tried atitraytools, but each time i set the clock speed it reverts back to default. i think its the 780 chipset interfering with it, the default clock speed on idle is 55 for the cpu and 250 for the mem, then when im gaming it goes to 250-500 for both depending on how gpu intensive is the game.

How come the hd3450 isn't reaching its max core clock of 500 even when im gaming? it reaches only 250 if i turn off powerplay or not, anybody knows why? maybe compaq limit the speed? or just my machine? im using the 133ax model btw.

Use gpu-z? or even the ati catalyst hardware information tab can tell you. rivatuner, ati tray tools etc etc.

Uh...i use gpu-z the sensors tab, they indicate that its constant 250 all the way. I tried fallout 3, and RA3 also the same. I also tried atitraytools' monitor graphs and they indicate the same thing also, i tried to overclock also cannot, each time i set a value it jumps back to default. Even if i set the game to very very high(1280x800, Max aa, af etc), it still stays at 250. If i on powerplay, when not gaming its around 55mhz, 125mhz etc etc, but never to 500 or even pass 250.

So im not the only one? I see.... Maybe its the mobility modder problem? i dont think its the hardware problem also, but i got no other drivers to try other than catalyst mobility modded drivers, reinstall many times also liao.

Btw, my screenshot with powerplay off and after some gaming with high settings(enough to be not playable at all, 4xaa af etc etc). Btw, i notice that the numbers are exactly the same as iq_myst's screenie.

Exactly, i dont think driver will affect it too. So why is mine and a few others showing only 250Mhz? Do u think u can post some benchie on some games u play? just the fps and settings only will do if thats okay... So i can compare, so maybe its just the monitoring software bugs and not the hardware.
Sorry for being paranoid and all...my 1st lappy and i do alot of light gaming, it will suck alot if the fps im getting is supposedly to be higher.

Downloading everest free edition now to check also.

Maybe the sounds are the is the harddisk? The fan is pretty noisy especially when gaming but when not the hd sound is louder.

have u tried the microphone boost option? i thought the mic was not bad for a built in one. i use it to tune my guitar and i've tried recording too, sucks of course, but at least it records.

Those that bought the lappy will know that the during idle the max processor speed is around 450mhz, then increase according to load, one of the main features of the puma platform. Sadly no powerxpress/hybridxfire.

Anybody know how to get some kind of visual confirmation for the volume?
I dunno if its an xp or vista issue, the laptop volume change is the windows volume change and there's no visual confirmation to how loud or soft it is.

Yeah, amd/ati are generally meant to withstand heat. So its more of a user problem, not really a laptop problem. What i do is i use some book or something flat on my lap, i can use it on the bed too, no probs.

Sigh.....still no news on powerxpress/hybridxfire? It seems very doable, but yet no pro want to help.... And im not even sure if my gpu is operating at half the clock speeds or what, want to dump the vbios also cannot, since the vbios is integrated into the chipset bios.

The hd 3450 support shared memory too? U sure? i dont see the option in catalyst...

Don't worry, warcraft iii is 100% playable at full speed even at 1280x800. at least for me....maybe its coz of my tweaking...
i finished fallout 3 on high, yes high, i tried medium as well but barely any fps or visual difference. not 30 fps lah, but if u got patience and u use vats alot lol then should be no problem.
now playing prince of persia on low at 1280x800 aa off, but still look very nice

warning though, the temp is pretty high. especially inconveniently on the left palm rest. but dont worry, its normal, just wether u can bear with it anot.

Really? my friend's pc can play l4d on max very smooth, fallout 3 on high, basically all games outperform mine lah. but he cannot even play crysis on low. i using the same lappy, and ur saying i can play crysis on med?
