yes....i also cant find webcam driver...

I'm not very sure but just want to be on the safe side. So I just take 32bit instead eventhough my heard wanted 64bit.

I will post you the screen shot of my system manager as soon as I get 4GB for my notebook. As for now the notebook will not be tested fully.

yes, you can bring it in SG ... icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes coz i dont want to have any headache. I only play around with pirates for testing during my college days. After that I get myself original one even when I dont have money. So need to sacrifice a bit loh.

My 126AU running very cool. Updating windows (low load) and its only register 45 Celsius (with NO aircond turned on since this morning).

wat software u using to test tempt?

will it noisy?
*
As I said just now. CPUID Hardware Monitor free version. But for some reason the Hardware Monitor can't display GPU temp for 126AU.

Why dont you try and share with us the reading? To be fair, make sure no aircond turned ON for at least 4 hours.

dont worry plastic can withstand more than 200C. the best way for cooler operation is dont block that exhaust part.

The thing is the design is flawed. In normal use the back of the LCD screen will somewhat block some of the hot-air flow.

clock per clock, X2 is slower than Core 2 duo. battery life, core 2 wins by quite a large margin.

Its depends on which core 2 that you are using. Some 35W and some 25W. ATI chipset is more power efficient compared to Intel.

for video driver go amd.com dl the ATI Catalyst Control Center

I can't see option to switch from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS for 126AU.

Care to give some short guide on how to install WinXP in this case?

Even though some 65nm Intel parts are 35W. That is the max power or TDP. TDP doesnt mean anything in real life usage. Power savings wise, Intel Core series is ahead of Turion. That is why most users have problem getting 2 hrs. Intel laptops have no problems getting more than 2hrs. At the same clock speed, Core 2 is faster than Turion and consumes less power. TDP doesnt mean anything, just arough guideline on the max power.
*
Bro, AMD Turion RM-71 TDP is 32W. Yes real life is quite defferent but you have to look at the battery of the notebook to. Is it of the same rating? In term of power saving, Puma platform is better than AMD's previous one and it is now comparable with Intel system of the same price. Please do not compare with system of different price as other parts used will be of a better quality.

guys,

my pal bought the tesco laptop. Im typing this using it, kinda hot but ok smile.gif

its using an athlon x2 instead of turion x2, but then its cheap ! 1499. I asked the tesco salesman to install the drivers, it is searchable but since he's offering i asked him to do it for rm60 + vista , seems that it is similar to the 115AU's drivers.

P/S : thanks for giving the info on the offer, we went straight away after reading it here.

Is it the e-machine (Acer) ?

Compaq CQ40-128AU Notebook AMD Athlon 64 QL-62 Processor at RM1,499

source : http://offerstation.com/offers-promotions/...trical-fair.htm
*
Its not old processor. Athlon 64 X2 QL-62 (2.0 GHz) was release in the same quarter (Q3 2008) as Turion X2 RM-72 (2.1 GHz). The only different between Athlon 64 X2 QL-62 (2.0 GHz) and Turion X2 RM-70 (2.0 GHz, released on Q2 2008) is the TDP and Maximum RAM Frequency where:

1) Athlon 64 X2 QL-62 (2.0 GHz): 35W TDP, Dual-channel 333 (667) MHz RAM.

2) Turion X2 RM-70 (2.0 GHz): 31W TDP, Dual-channel 400 (800) MHz RAM.

Both are Dual-Core.
