thank you very much.
then if i buy online via hp website, i can't upgrade my ram?
*
For HP I'm not so sure because I have no experience dealing with them online. Perhaps others can answer the question better than I can.

No you can't.
Why would you want to buy rams from them anyway? It's way more expensive. When I bought my notebook at a HP store I asked the salesperson whether they're selling rams as well. I was holding quite a few pricelists in my hand when I asked. The guy straightaway said "they sell way cheaper, better buy outside".

Bro, I know that "Mobile Computing" section is where we can post a thread about Notebook and all. Do you know any section that i can post a thread about Desktop?

CQ40-115AU only have 1 SO-DIMM slot, the max is 2GB

pls correct me if i'm wrong.

for other model support two SO-DIMM, i think best combo 1GB+2GB "since 32-bit  OS, won't able show fully 4GB"
*
I don't think 115AU only have one slot.

spade, 126au using RM-72 but 126ax using RM-70

u found temp of lappy using 3200?

Not yet bro. No one respond yet.

However I still believe 3200 are going to produce less amount of heat.

How about you bro? Any news on the temp?

so is 1 or 2 slot? i saw in the spec that max is 2GB, mean 1 slot?

i found that CQ45-107AU contains all I want.(2GB 800, 320GB,bluetooth, wireless a/g/n, HD3200,that is all I want)
But the price differ much from CQ40-115AU,is 2259 from pc fair price.

any suggestion?
*
Its 2 slots.

My personal advice is go for AMD based if you can.

If you notice on HP's site many of the CQ40s are stated as having MAX 2GB memory, including 125/26/33/34AX. Contrary to their specifications, many of us here are using 4GB with no limitations. Well, except for those on x86.
*
You are absolutely right bro.

Yes. The notebook comes with 1GB DDR2 667. If you add a 2GB DDR2 800 stick, it will run at DDR2 677 with total of 3GB RAM.
*
The issue is can the system run on dual-channel with 1GB + 2GB stick? Last time I check only laINTELa system can do that. Any info would be much appreciated.

spade, maybe i will take 126au from pc fair and add up to 4GB ddr2 800 at abt RM1800

shady, which OS recommend to this lappy? Windows Vista Ultimate sp2 64bit?

where can find and dl the OS? can pm me?

thanks ya...
*
I think its a good choice but hearing issues with their brand new notebook, especially the one that do not come with Windows (coz you can't give it a try on the spot) makes me think twice. I don't want to keep sending it back to service centre over and over again.

Bro, this happen 1 in a million........ sweat.gif

Just like proton cars.....we know they have a lot of minor issue......some major a bit....
There are owners never complaint that they have a bad quality car......
Yet they claim that their proton car never give them problem......
This is also 1 in a million......

I've been using CQ40-125AX for AI, Phoshop to design my work.........Games like COH, COD, Hellgate London, World of Warcraft, Crysis and RA3 rclxms.gif
so far never give me any problem from the hardware...... rclxm9.gif

But, at times I have problem with Vista.......as usual....MICROSOFT WINDOWS.......need to use Ccleaner and Ncleaner to clean all the RUBBISH....... sad.gif
