wanna see huntkey v-power 550W go KABOOM when loading it with 550W of power? Really shocking. Apparently the perfect wattage output is 60% (330W) of stated 550W load, reaching the efficiency of 80%+. When a load of 80% (440W), the efficiency drops to 70%+. When a 100% load (550W) is applied, it exploded.

So we decided to get a more “powerful” model, V-Power 550 W, to see if it has the same fate as its sisters. The funny thing is that the manufacturer's website lists both rails at 18 A but the sticker clearly lists one rail at 16 A and the other at 18 A. But, like we already explained, this unit uses exactly the same rectifiers as used on Green Star 400 W and Green Star 450 W from the same manufacturer.
What exploded were the two switching transistors. When the power supply explodes it means that the primary side is under dimensioned. When the secondary side is under dimensioned the power supply dies silently, because when a rectifier burns the short-circuit protection enters immediately in action shutting down the power supply.
So Huntkey should have used more powerful transistors and added a heatsink to the rectifying bridge, plus using rectifiers with higher current limits for the +12 V output."
Marketing gimmick. 550W my ass.
If u have high end cpu, spend a few hundred bucks more on PC&C or Corsair/OCZ or other brands that uses the same OEM with the brands mentioned.
