If you're going to use PC and play BDs, I'd strongly advise you to up your budget and go Full HD. A HD-ready LCD looks really awful with the PC, especially the fonts will look blocky. Since you have HD sources, the choice of brand is not so important. They will all look good with HD sources since very little processing will be involved. More importantly, make sure the set can do 1:1 pixel mapping for PC use or it's not going to look good.

Oh, and the Philips 3403 has awful black levels and processing. Avoid any Philips LCD TV that doesn't have "Pixel Plus HD" or better. "Crystal Clear" looks like your average auto-levels kind of crap.

2.4k for a Full HD TV ain't bad if it's being used as LCD monitor for game.

With RM3.6k, LA40A550 could be an option for full hd tv.

pv8 is nicer although compare wif full hd 550...
*
I agree with that totally PV8 is nicer for Astro.
A550 is only clear panel. For full hd, it's still a good bang for money, say as a lcd monitor and for PS3.

I have no luck in finding A610 with 'S' panel yet. Probably I got to settle down with 'A' panel instead.
Went to Best Denki last night n saw an A610 with 'C' panel... doh.gif

dat samsung's dynamic contrast is 30000:1 compared to sony's 15000:1... other features sort of the same...
*
Contrast ratio is just a figure might not reflect actual performance... icon_idea.gif
Not all ppl ll switch on dynamic contrast to watch TV
Picture quality very unnatural and artificial. See the actual performance with bare eyes. thumbup.gif

show room always use high quality picture source, player and cable to make pictures look nice in those display units.

Unless you are some of the elite one who can afford buying original BD or high quality DVD, i suggest you bring your own source such as hmmm ... the jack sparrow made dvd to the show room for testing.

But if you can afford the original BD or DVD, then forget my suggestions  rolleyes.gif

Regardless of what's d source, A650 is still a decent LCD.

QUOTE(aiman04 @ Dec 6 2008, 01:42 PM)
Bro, if you impressed by the 6 Series, you should be awed by the 7 Series. We did a side by side comparison with Sony W Series, really put a big shame to the Sony. My friend bought it for RM5.5k but it's out of stock, have to wait for 2 weeks.
Specs here:

http://www.samsung.com/my/consumer/detail/...=LA40A750R1RXXM
*
I wont spend the extra $$$ for A750 too. Performance is pretty much the same when they r compared side by side.
I'm torn between the choice of LA46A610 and LA40A650 now sweat.gif
Like the quality of A650 too but got to settle down with LA46 with lower quality PQ for living room with current budget doh.gif
40" is too small for living room sweat.gif

Bro, where can get at RM5.5K?? drool.gif

Any idea on the price of LA46A650?

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Dec 6 2008, 05:55 PM)
If you can, get the A950, great black levels. Very good contrast ratio. The only thing you need to watch out for fluctuating black levels.
*
Agree with that. The black is really black and the price oso very $$$ smile.gif

You can consider getting it fr commontan ...LA32A550 @ RM2.3k

Btw I am now torn between LA46A610 & LA40A650
One gives bigger screen size, while the other giving better PQ...
Here's the pic of peasant's living room with tv bracket installed.
IMO 46" is still a better choice. So what's your say?
Only plan to move in next year after CNY... may be I should wait for price drop tongue.gif

Why not considering LA46A950 or LA52A650... slightly cheaper
I see A650, A750, A850 are pretty much the same in PQ when they are compared side by side (to my peasant's eye) tongue.gif
Btw you got nice stuffs
