Father in law got it for RM3950. Thats with Credit Card payment and a 80km shipping.
No free gifts though.

Now since thats not working out, am thinking of getting another Full HD 1920 x 1080 Plasma Screen.
Will have to work on returning the original one though and having a talk with the sales person on the wrong info passed.
I may take a while in replying to your next post though, age and sleep has caught up and ill need a quick shuteye.

Thanks for your help though, its been enlightening biggrin.gif
At least no longer getting mixed info everywhere on the Net.

hi,
i went to a shop last night and the salesperson tried to sell me the 42PG60FR, note, it's the FR version, which should be the Full HD model
i'm not sure if the unit is available here locally nor if the salesman made a mistake
he have the PG60UR as well but tried to convince me to take the 60FR
now it's really getting confusing

that should be the RHB-SenQ credit card
btw, 3300 should be the price to aim for when bargaining for PV80 nowadays

Hi,
May I know where that shop is? Never heard of that model in Malaysia. Is there any warranty for that model? How long and by who? TQ
*
the shop is in penang and supposed to have factory warranty
they are supposedly trying to clear the unit and offered more discount to bring the price to 4500
i can't find any other details from the net nor the salesman except the fact that he said it's the 60FR and from what i can find all 60FR are full HDs

for PV80H, if you are serious about buying, you should be able to push for 3299 at the bigger store
i've been to 3 diff ones and they offered to match the first store after i told them the best quote that i got

yes, and with larger LCDs like 46-55inches type, they can use more power than plasmas of the same size..
*
i did some search and came across:
http://reviews.cnet.com/televisions/?tag=bc
where they did reviews on the sets and include power comsunption measurement in it

from what i gather, LCD seems to take much less power, i.e 30-40% less than a plasma
i look at the 42" panasonic plasma and compared to a few 40-46" LCDs from other manufacturer
the plasma would take at least >50% more power than the LCDs
granted that the movie they used for testing might be different, but the extent of the difference is just too big to be cause by the show, in my opinion

btw, the figure i took is from the calibrated setting, not the default setting

that planted some doubt in my mind about getting the 42PV80H
at first, the native resolution of 1024x768, i think i can still live with it (i plan to hook up the computer or game console later on)
now with the power consumption figure which isn't as promising as it is

the remaining attraction now is the 5 year factory warranty and the attractive pricing

Wow...never tot power consumption plays "that" major role...
*
it does when the manufacturer and marketing ppl starts to make claims about the figures and try to use it as a selling point

But I bought mine from the Panny Roadshow in Gurney Plaza, Penang. And I think the organizer was BHB (Ban Hin Bee). Their price for 0% 12 months instalment plan is very attractive. They delivered the unit to my place and chopped their company stamp on the warranty and told me to refer back to my sales person. But reading the instructions, I am supposed to send back the warranty card to Panny using the inserted envelope. So I decided to just get it done on my own la. Mailing it very easy only la. LOL....

how much did you pay for it?

The final price I got was RM3496 for 0% 12 months instalment plus free shipping, 1xViera HDMI cable, 1xViera S-Video cable for Astro, and a set of 9 pieces of Tupperware. Then I went into the cash chamber and managed to snap up RM77 ringgit. So, altogether I paid only RM3419. However, I had a small feud with my sales person yesterday as he told me last minute that they have no stock pula while he promised me they have plenty stock. Then finally they managed to find 1 unit (dunno whether is it a display set or not) and sent it to me last night. Anyone has any idea on how to check the panel display time on the PV80??
*
hmmm... one of their salesperson tried to push me to commit on Sunday at RM3299, saying no such price will be offered on Monday.
he mentioned the free gifts are the HDMI cables and S-video cables. no mention of the Tupperware (which is worth a bit of money i guess) nor the shipping (but i assume it should be free)
i didn't ask about any surcharge for easy payment though but i know SenQ and SEC can do it for a RM25 fee

Say bye-bye to LCD TV....  tongue.gif
(But maybe LCD TV price will drop dramatically, so prepare your wallet)

the NeoPDP claims to consume less power while improving image quality and reducing manufacturing cost
does that mean even cheaper plasma coming up?
the power consumption figure is very impressive too, at around 50% lower consumption

you can't find this model on the local jvc website yet, but you'll see it at SG's site

finally settled for the 42PV80HM
however, i notice there is an intermittent buzzing sound when the unit is turn OFF (not standby)
what i meant by intermittent is that comes on for a while, then go off, then come back on after a while
i doubt that it only happens after being used cause i heard it again this morning and the last time i used it is yesterday afternoon and had it switched off after that
the power socket is plugged in at the mains and the mains is left ON all the time

anyone experience this with their unit?
will be checking the usage time later today but the unit looks unused as it came properly packed
