The wait is over,

I finally saw PG70Plasma and LG80LCD in the shop, the quality is just stunning and marvellous

LG80LCD at RM4800 only...but i didn't get chance to ask for PG70
anyone know the best price for both?

I think i will choose one between them..
LG80LCD 3.1Virtual Surround sound is marvellous...also the 50:000:1 contrast with 4ms response time.
Tomorrow going to bring a DVD high motion images flipping to try on the quality, if the quality is agreeable, definitely it's going to be my baby.. the competition of TV now is just so unbearable..every few months coming with the better quality and features..

No need to go for Scarlet, LG80 series comes with 50:000:1 contrast(42inch), 3ms response time, anti-reflection, virtual 3.1 home theater sound
I will choose LG80 ...the price comes down to RM4200 already, which match my ratio of 1:100 worth buying mode..wink.gif

32LG80FR is cost about RM2799
42LG80FR cost RM4799

There are other FULL HD LCD in 32 inch, like 32LG53 FR/ UR , now rocking bottom price at RM2499 at Best Denki.

The thing is... not many of us tested LG LCD here. Mostly talk about Panny
*
He he I'm the buyer

Now in Penang
42LG80FR is RM4000
I bought at RM4200, and now a forumer already got it for RM4000 in just 15 days ;(
I'm ok with that since when i buy it, the ratio i'm going for is 1 inch: RM100
so i reach that ratio, and buy it without second thought

One thing to know those

For 32 inch, the contrast ratio is only 30000:1 but for 42 inch, the contrast ratio is 50000:1
all other features are better or similar to of Samsung A650

The PQ is a boom, the details is very much stunning
I tested with the most controversial 'stuttering' scenes in the Hong Kong Movie, and it just slides off nicely without any problem
Sound quality is also the best i have heard of, 50W, better than the award winning Philip 30W 7404 LCD (also 50000:1, PixelX3, etc)
I have the home theater but i hardly need to turn on the home theater to see TV channel episodes, as the sound output is just marvellous

Highly recommended!

One downside though, only 2 HDMI ;(

My friend bought the new Samsung 40" Series 7 (with 2+1 warranty and 1 year all risk insurance) together with the Sony HT-SF2300 for RM7500 (credit card installments). Is it a good deal?
*
For 7 Series, it is quite a good deal, as deducted HT-SF2300 for RM2000, he bought this set for RM6500
For now it's a good deal, but still getting a LCD for a ratio of 1:RM100 is a worth ratio value (from the heard actually lah wink.gif)

because anyhow we know that tech is going to be more improved over the time and the price ratio is getting lower each quarter..
50 inch for some of the LCD/Plasma is coming down to that ratio as well...so the justification base on that is on par with the price sliding strategy to ensure that we get best out of what we are paying for

but of course lah..it's only poor person like me who justify based on this ratio, for well above person, RM6500 for a TV is like buying vegetable from pasar..wink.gif

Hey, I just bound a second Flat panel TV which is LG 50PG70 Plasma to replace my Sony 46" V400 LCD on my living room.

Now I realised how great a plasma TV is compare to the LCD TV, the colour looks much natural and motion is smooth now, black is really black not like previous LCD greyish, watching on Plasma TV on a darker room will give you a theather like picture experience compare to LCD.
*
Hi How much you bought the LG50PG70 for?
I have always wanted to buy this one before the LG80 series, but the shop seem not carrying them in

Can you enlighten on the price and place found?
Viruz, you are in Penang right?

Thanks

bimpp,
The new LG80 also lack of PIP feature.

The contrast ratio, I always thought both are having 50000:1 & its FULL HD. (found the spec on Internet)

Btw, did you get 2 years manufacturer warranty?

Can you tell us what are the Screen Sizing Mode available for LG80? For e.g. wide screen, 4:3, zoom, etc?
*
If you check specs on the net, you will see most of them specifying 30000:1, which meant to describe 32 inch..

Bro, if you impressed by the 6 Series, you should be awed by the 7 Series. We did a side by side comparison with Sony W Series, really put a big shame to the Sony. My friend bought it for RM5.5k but it's out of stock, have to wait for 2 weeks.
Specs here:

Wait till you see A950,
I'm eyeing on this, as Commontan sell this in quite reasonable price...

Samsung Impressive A950

Added on December 7, 2008, 12:57 ambmipp,
Can share what are the options available for LG80 viewing screen?
e.g. wide, zoom, 4:3, etc....

My concern is to connect my laptop to 32 LCD. I just wanna make sure the LCD can view Online text and video properly.
*
no problem or the viewing of online text and video properly.
However it's best if you computer have the HDMI output though,
my Dell Studio 15 series laptop come with the HDMI out, so the image output is just excellent

Have heard some sales person said, LG TV made ppl look fatter, but i didn't really realize though

1) Samsung 40" Lcd LA40A750 = RM 5080

2) Samsung 46" Lcd LA46A750 = RM 6450

3) Samsung 46" Lcd LA46A850 = RM 6950

4) Samsung 46" Lcd LA46A950 = RM 7750

These 4 are so tempting, but each 100 level up, means loss of RM500 at least..;(

Now A950 got the best review and rating all over the review side for its stunning picture and also blacks level, which can be compared to KURO PLASMA even..this impressed me a lot...

so better get the 750 or 850

the only difference for 750 and 850 is the thickness, imagine 850 just 1.5" so sleek beauty

yeah that's the beauty of plasma... sure look stunning.. even if lost at resolution count..  rclxms.gif

one thing I cannot stand about LCD is in a darken room, when you show a dark scene or a black screen saver, the blardy thing that is glowing in the room and lighting up the whole room is the LCD screen..  biggrin.gif

well, if got money, LCDs using backlitted LED is the way to go..
*
Ya, getting LED is the best choice is one is already going for 750 or 850
but only one question though, is 950 (LED) technology already mature on the go?
cause usually those who get the first batch is the guinea pig for try out..
but don't think Samsung will do that quah..
someone may enlighten this?

How long is the warranty for Samsung?
*
1 year manufacturer warranty...

cannot compare to Panasonic...but one thing to remember though
usually evenhow many years warranty one claim, still the first year warranty is the easiest to get claim and free

after that, usually extra charge will be imposed and also parts are not free...
5 years, 8 years is always a gimmick of marketing strategy..

Hey guys,

I am sorry I cant read thru all the 82 pages before asking you this question. The reason being is I am going to go get the LCD/Plasma quite soon, maybe tonight or tomorrow night and have work to attend to for now.

Anyway, I have quite a big hall - so I think I would want a 46". The budget is 7K+
Edit : I guess I will cancel out the A610 as it does not come with 100Hz technology
*
As from your budget and also requirement, look no other than A750(4 inch thick) or A850 (1.5 inch thick)
W series of Sony has response time of 8 ms which definitely is a no no...
For Samsung New series (7,8 or 9) the response time is 4 ms...with 100htz.

I used to say no no to Samsung as 2 years ago i have watched the LCD he bought and the slow response time has the ghost effect that made the scene look so horrible, but i now understand there are several series that have made difference..

same for 3,4 and 5 series, if really in budget constraint, only pick them

looking the title song mode for the 85 episodes HK series, you will know the difference..the stutterness of those scenes in 3, 4 and 5 series will make you turn away from the TV totally...but 650 especially have made difference in the scene totally, the smoothness will make you impress instead...

For 6+k, go for 750 or 850, as both are in the same range
and the specs for both are totally the same, only the thickness difference, and price difference by RM500+
