Base on this link, UK iPhone 3G is locked.
NZ is still the best choice.

It never said the iPhone 3G will come unlock. It just says no contract.

Not a good deal I would say. It seems like you still have to be with O2 but with Pay As You Go SIM card.

Iphone PAYG - £350
18 months simplicity @20 a month = 360
total
£710

iphone contract
£35/p/m * 18 = 630
iphone itself = 99
£730

just a comparison, for UK people...that's one of the cheapest plan...so you still need to get a PAYG simcard

Added on September 2, 2008, 9:39 pmif this 3g can be unlocked, i'll get it in a snap!

you can choose not to reload at all with o2 pay as you go. buy it and unlock it, you are free to use with any sim card.

the payg simplicity deal is not compulsory, but an example of what you can get if you choose to reload it every month.

it is not automatically unlocked after a year. you will have to do the unlocking stuff yourself at your own risk.

Let's just wait for it to come out, and we'll see how. Sounds like a good deal.

Anyone wanna place an order? biggrin.gif

@rx330,
You should have mentioned it earlier - me sister is in BKK; I could have asked her to get a unit [don't ask me Y she decided to go despite the 'state of emergency'!] Now she's stranded cause her flight got cancelled.

@rx330,
I don't know - u mentioned Thailand sets are unlocked (or somehow unlocked) in ur earlier message didn't U?!

She's not really stranded lah - her flight got cancelled and she's taking the next flight back; if she doesn't get on that next flight I guess then I'll just have an additional day to the house smile.gif

ya, i ask her to check
but this kind of law is really weird...
i think the same applies in US at&t as well

if only they do it like aussie, pay for unlocking, i definitely dun mind tat

OT: show her the chanel apps yesterday, she was so delighted, one of her favourite brands biggrin.gif

@rx330,
No harm checking to see if O2 can unlock it after a year - smile.gif Perhaps she could alwiz tell O2 her situation; that she's a student in UK and will onli be there for 12 months hence what's d point of getting the phone when she won't b able to use it post the 12 months?!

@rx330,
Ask her to speak with someone with authority; the usual Officers will probably tell her to get another phone or something - and be nice! smile.gif
