Factory Outlets in Bandung got started by Perry Tristianto - the undisputed "Factory Outlet King" of Bandung in 1990s. Biz picked up after the economic crisis of late 1990s when many people have less money but still want to buy designer goods. Bapak Perry now has more than 20 outlets - each catering for different market segments; but always bearing in mind that that his target market is the "discerning" buyers who know the brands, prefer quality goods and want to shop in comfort. Hence most factory outlets in Bandung are beautifully appointed, furnished (mostly in old colonial bungalows) classy boutique shops; to create the "ambience" to lure these discerning buyers.
Kindly read this website for detail information on the basic info on FO in Indonesia:-

http://factoryoverrun.com/v2/http://www.mo-outlet.com/outlet.htmI too have initial reservation regarding these stuff until I read this "Do you know that Alain Delon, Gucci, Adidas, Nike, Reebok, Brooks Brothers, Kohl’s, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Yves St Laurent, and many more world reknown up-market brands are made by the contract manufacturers in Malaysia?" (Penang Economic Monthly May 2007). Plus news from STAR online that suits from Saville Row London are made in Malaysia by founders of the Sparkmanshop chain!
For the best FOs I strongly recommend Rumah Mode - in fact it's compulsory to go there! Hehehe..... price-wise its uber alles (slightly more expensive than most other FOs), but it has a splendid restaurant & massage centre and an overall fantastic setting. The rich Indonesians shop here! Next will be the Secret, Summit, Heritage/Cascade - all at Jalan Riau aka Martadinata. The other cluster will be Episode, Jetset, Uptown, Grande, Glamour, Blossom, Coconel at Jalan Dago aka Juanda. For sportswear please visit DSE, a 4 storey store at Jl Dago.
To ensure you get "originals" the labels are normally cut or blackout - just like the ones in FOs or Reject Shop in M'sia plus the "Made in ..........." is prominently displayed either at the collar or at the bottom inshirts. Imitation/fakes never displayed their origins! Some shirts especially higher end ones have certificates of origin attached to them.
The FOs there now source their goods from all over the place, hence the goods sold there can be from Indonesia, China, Cambodia, Bangladesh (biggest producer of T-shirts in the world now!), India, Peru, El Salvador, Macau, Mexico, Mauritius, Tunisia, Vietnam, Philippines, Pakistan, Brunei.
Hope this lengthly post explains enough......
