Hey people! I've already shortlisted some i liked HOWEVER...i am aware that I am not model height and neither can all these patterns be found in Kuala Lumpur, so this is where I'm needing your help. Which is your personal preference on the cheongsams? And where are some good places to get one?

Also, I'm wearing it to an indian wedding - this is gonna be my all purpose cheongsam so i'm preparing to spend maybe RM200 and below on it. NOT RM200 though, hopefully below! biggrin.gif Thanks yall!!

Appreciating teh pending input ;-)

the 1st one, guess will b more than RM200.. juz my 2 cents opinion..
anyway, personally, i like the uniqueness of the 1st one.. the second one is simple yet elegant.. smile.gif

Depending on the material that you choose. Workmanship cost will also differ with the material. I made mine 2 years ago in Melaka. So prices could be more expensive in KL. wink.gif

I went for a material like this but in light gold color. brows.gif Its the traditional qipao material. Just go to the cloth shop and told the boss, they know what it is already. I think its woven silk or something lah. This alone got a few grades. I dont know what grade is mine as mum picked it out for me. The material alone cost close to RM200 or slightly more. shocking.gif (2years ago pricing ok) I am 165CM, so I went to tailor to actually measure it all out then only went to get cloth. Cant remember how many meters already.

if not wrong lah, the thinner the material, the tailor will sew another inner piece with it. The thicker the material, then no need. The material I choosed was thick enough. So no need an inner coat. I think if you pick white, also still will have inner coat.

Workmanship for that material if not mistaken was about RM150. wink.gif

Better to get it tailor made to your size exactly. Mass produced ones are always bigger, so not sexy looking. Tailor made ones, u can decide how high u want your side slit to be on 1 side or both. brows.gif

A good tailored qipao is determined when you sit with it, the neck area will not like 'suffocate' you. It shouldnt even tuck on your neck. You shouldnt have to pull ur qipao up when you are about to sit. When u sit and stand, the qipao should be comfortable especially at the neck area. tongue.gif

Now my qipao hanging in the cupboard only. No functions to wear liao. HAHA. I remember the qipao in the end cost more than my kebaya cos I made 1 of each. whistling.gif

Hey thanks girls! Guess what, I decided to leave it for another occasion as I walked into metrojaya and found a RM19 cotton chinese collared top that'll go great with a fitting white skirt. Not so taxing on the wallet ;-) Thanks SO much girls! May be getting one next time. biggrin.gif
