Hi guys, newbie here, can teach me how to breed Fighting Fish?

Everytime i tried, the male FF will keep chase the female FF & beat the female, made the female very scared & just stay @ a side, don't dare to swin to other place.

How to solve this problem? Can any guys teach me the whole steps to let them breed? Like need what size of aquarium, what is needed to do when they breed & so on.

Appreciate from your help, thanks..

Hi all sifu here, i'm a newbie here.

May i know some info how to breed betta? Really need helps here.

I got a male & female before. I put them together but the male keep bite the female, I saw it very pitty so separate them.

But just 2 days after that, female betta just died like that while my male betta colour just turned slowly (it is red colour but turn "white" colour slowly, just like sick) & a few days more it also died.

Really very very sad on that. sad.gif

Is it any point that need to be noticed when wanna breed betta? Thanks !

Hmm, male is that kind of long tail 1, is it Thai betta? & female is short tail, Thai or Msia female betta also short tail right? So i not sure. Sorry cause i don't know differentiate kind of betta. >.<

Is it Thai cannot breed with Msia betta?

QUOTE(spirit of demon @ Mar 4 2010, 07:11 AM)
normally it take 1-3 days for the spawning process to take place.. if after 3 days still no eggs under the nest.. u need to recondition the pair...

the spawning process will take place under the bubblenest.. and the male will pick up the eggs and put it under the bubblenest..
after spawning.. the male will chase the female away from the nest.. So, if u saw there is eggs under the nest and the female is being chased away(means they finish the business d).. it is the best time to remove the female..

Thanks for information. smile.gif

u sure it is 3 years and 5 months? do u know betta lifespan?
*
Most of these fish can live for 2-3 years in fish bowl.

Normally, bettas live two to five years depending on how they are cared for. Male bettas that live alone in large individual tanks and get daily exercise have lived six years or longer in laboratories. Typically, males purchased from a pet store are over four months old, at a point when their finnage becomes fullest and most attractive. Due to their shorter finnage, females available in pet stores are often only three to six months old.

Betta fish actually live for 4+ years, eight years is not uncommon, in a 2+ gallon tank. In petstores males and females are actually an average of two years old; a female's finnage is alway short.

2-3 years in a bowl but 6-7 in a tank. 8 years is not uncommon, though.

You may find it that your beta lives longer with different plants, and tanks.

Credit to WikiAnswers.

I thought Betta life only around 2 years. blink.gif

sorry to dissapoint u that, wiki doesn't mean correct... wiki is man-based uploaded info.. not scientific info... if you are doing professional thesis.. u cant put wiki as references.. hope this help... look at the finnage.. i can tell its age... over a years or 2... a hm will failed to erect his finnage so well... and mostly, they will bite their tail in order for them to swim properly.. HM is not a pure splendens.. it have undergo some study of genetic background and selective breeding.. so, u cant compare a wild splendens with a hm... hope this help and no offence anyone..
why i know this?

i took part in betta competiton, and mostly i will compete in HM category.. So, i know what is the best time for a HM to show his full potential.. normally, a full potential hm will be 5-7months, when the finnage and colour fully develop(especially for red, the big scale and irids will slowly be cover by red at this age).. So, a breeder will normally spawn the fish 6 months before the competition.. and dont't believe, spawn a pair.. u know what i m talking about..
and if talking about non-splendens type.. that is different story.. let's say macrostoma.. they can live for 9 years and above.. because they reach their maturity around 1.5 years old while splendens reach its maturity at 2.5 months old..

by looking at the ventrals from the picture.. i got at least 60% confident to tell u that, the LFS is right...

Added on May 8, 2010, 6:05 pm

vomit out means it is full d.. stop feeding now..
and in order to give a long-run good heath for an adult fish.. try skip feeding(feed 2 days and stop 1 day) and a small portion(let say three piece of 0.1mm diameter pellets) are enough for each feeding.. don't over feed...
*
Wow thanks for info bro! Now i only know can't over feeding cause the female just like not enough full & keep eating. & 1 day i feed 3 times is it ok? Each time i will feed male less but female more cause i see her keep not enough to eat. rclxub.gif

& may i know how to know that both male & female are ready to breed?

Thanks!

Thanks for your information again.

You live in Sri Kembangan? Which part? If you free may i pay a visit to your home to learn something from you. tongue.gif I have rear Bettas for many years already but till now only know that my way is wrong, (that i always feed them 3 times a day), & never have breeding experience, just always rear them for hobby purpose.
