My problem actually very minor..juz sometimes get memory dump..lappie restart..and high temperature when gaming..if u'r using it for working like powerpoint, web browsing and etc...it's kinda good ^^

By the way if u'r not using the bluetooth,go for CQ40 since it has a better graphic card..i personally think that Nvidia Geforce 9100 isnt that good..and ATI Radeon HD3200 ranked 2 place above Nvidia Geforce 9100..so i guess 3200 is better ^^...furthermore HP is a better brand than Acer ^^

CQ-40 good with HD3200 & HDMI but max 2GB RAM size.

Is Compaq Presario CQ40-115AU using ACHI which advantage for faster OS/Application?

How about the heat on palm rest/bottom ?

ah..mean the HP web infor mistake about the max RAM size.

can check it from the BIOS.

not sure what chipset & the ACHI controller by CQ40, for 4530 its all by NVidia, must use their own drivers smile.gif

yes that is correct. The Intel X3100 is just a video card for the sake of displaying the onscreen stuff. It's not powerful enough for decent gaming.

X3100 = nvidia 6150 range.

X4500 = nvidia 8200 or 9100 range or ATi 2400 range.

the best onboard video that can be had now is the ATi HD3200. Its slightly worse compared to a 8400GS but costs a lot cheaper.

Its Dx10.1 and has SM4.0. Can play recent games on low to medium settings res between 800*600 to 1024*600. Pretty impressive for a built in video card.

I'm running the HD3200 and I can play:

Serious Sam 2 @ 1280*800 everything full except AA
Gears of War 1024*600 medium
CoD2 800*600 medium
CoD4 800*600 medium
NFS:PS 640*480 low
GRiD 640*480 low
Unreal Tournament 3 800*600 low
Unreal Tournament 2004 @1280*800 full

I'm running Vista SP1 with 3GB RAM and page file turned off.

can play cod4...

no ATM but on the way user posted image

just bought 4530 that's y so curious about the better CQ40 spec.

I would say the heat issue has been reduce quite a lots on 4530 & CQ50, thanks to their newer & better design.

Went to LYP today and compared these two models. Specs wise, its basically the same except 4530 comes with BT, 9100M and CQ40 comes with HDMI, HD 3200.

4530 is bulkier compared to CQ40. Maybe because of extra buttons. CQ40 looks neater to me. Any CQ40 users here?

bluetooth is not so important
but radeon use ati catalyst
ati catalyst a bit heavy program
will slow down your start up time

can CQ40-115AU support 2GB modules? HP site states that max is only 2GB (1GB x 2). I'm thinking of getting 3GB (1GB + 2GB).

Any CQ40 users here?

nod.gif CQ40 outlook much better..too bad few weeks ago CQ40 not available laugh.gif

get the driver from the seller

i bought myself a compaq recently with FreeDOS. The model comes either with FreeDOS or Vista, no XP.

However the shop kind enough to copy both xp & vista driver in cdr

Can someone confirm the max ram for the cq40?
I think 2Gb is a bit low and not future proof.
Also, is the e-sata function really necessary?
How often would you need it.

Considering buying either cq40 or cq45 or asus f8vr.
but all different price range.
headache.

CQ40 is using the latest Centrino 2 and AMD Puma platform. Core 2 is faster than Turion X2 but HD 3200 is faster than 4500HD. AMD is cheaper too. CQ45 has more features but more expensive.

my friend bought one already from US last week. it uses ATI HD 3650 and can switch to HD 3200 in lower power state mode. the vista rating is 5.0, lowest is the processor score. graphic score using HD 3650 is 5.6 if not mistaken. this laptop cost him 999usd..

hmm..the only thing extra is the harddisk..and i have 2gb ram..which is more than enough...and for the graphics card...ati radeon hd3200 is more than enough for me....and for the bluetooth..i can get the bluetooth adapter for about rm30 anywhere...so for rmm200 extra i will only get 130gb of harddisk and extra bluetooth..

i bought the 4530 - works great for the price. build quality is good, i love the colour - black with two-tone external. has all the essentials like wi-fi and bluebooth, 160 gb hdd, and finally a graphics adapter that i can play games with. love it! the price was a major factor, it was one of the lowest priced laptops offering 2 ghz dual core... biggrin.gif
