HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL MOUNTING:
Reference 1>> http://www.overclock.net/t/727852/question...s-vertically/10 Reference 2>> http://www.overclock.net/t/1199135/hyper-2...cal-positioning at first i thought about the effect of gravity on the liquid inside the heatpipes, but then both tests seems to point out that HORIZONTAL mounting being the better choice; the result from Reference 2 also shows that removing the rear case fan would actually show better temp. maybe i should do some tests and share the results after i installed my heatsink |

QUOTE(jedi_dc @ May 18 2013, 12:38 AM) Guys, any recommendations for air-cooler in a bitfenix prodigy with gigabyte h77n-wifi motherboard? with fans mounted on top, ur only choice are heatsinks with height less than 150mm. and u have to take into consideration about the ram clearance. i would recommend coolermaster geminII series. My CM Hyper 101 is sounding like a vacuum with my new I5-3570 Was wondering if its the intel TIM problem or the 3 year old Tuniq TX-3 i found laying around and used Any recommendations for 80mm fan to replace the one on the heatsink? QUOTE(zangun @ May 18 2013, 03:48 AM) u can try Viewnet, last i saw they have lots of fans |

done a little test regarding the effect of horizontal/vertical arrangement and with/without rear fan
Vertical Mount: TEST SYSTEM: Intel Xeon E3-1230v2 (max freq should be 3.5Ghz but Prime95 only using up to 2.9Ghz) Gigabyte GA-Z77x-D3H Kingston Value Ram 2x4GB 1600Mhz (Low Profile) MSI R7850 PE Thermalright Venomous-X + 2 Xigmatek XAF-F1255 Cooler Master GX550 Corsair Carbide 300r + 2 Bitfenix Specter Pro (TOP) + 2 Bitfenix Spectre Pro (FRONT) + 1 Corsair Stock (REAR) TEST ENVIRONMENT: Closed room with ceiling fan + aircond @ 17°C. RealTemp 3.70 to record min/max temperature. CoreTemp to record min/max temperature. METHOD: 1. Start up system; 2. Idle for 10min, take idle temp; 3. Run IntelBurnTest test for 10times @ Very High, take load temp. RESULT: Due to my mistake, my CPU has been seriously downclocked. I will post up new test results with properly working CPU soon... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by ntw: May 19 2013, 05:23 AM |

QUOTE(Holyjolly @ Jun 10 2013, 05:01 AM) I heard around many people prefer Arctic Cooling PWM fans due to its price and performance. u can customize the fan splitter yourself from those shop selling small electronics, or u can take a run around lowyatNow I am thinking to put more fans on my CM 690 advance (top part) with some good performance fans with blue LED to partially light up the super dark chassis. Is it a waste to put PWM fans for chassis exhaust? Anyone knows who is selling PWM (tiny 4pins) splitter? Any recommendations and reviews for fans with LED? 1.) Aerocool Shark fans 2.) Bitfenix Spectre fans 3.) Enermax fans aerocool shark is powerful but their sleeve bearing will not last long in the top exhaust position. bitfenix spectre and enermax is suitable for the job. QUOTE(melvintcs @ Jun 10 2013, 11:31 PM) any suggestion for low noise cooler? other options for low noise, low temp would be the noctua heatsinks. silent fan + great heatsink. no oc, want low noise and low temp. hopefully it can goes with my theme, all black. *Interested on dark knight, can it be fanless?* i heard the range of strew hole of 1150 and 1155 is the same right? or should i directly upgrade to water cooler? mouting hole for 1150, 1155, 1156 are the same. |

QUOTE(Holyjolly @ Jun 12 2013, 05:55 PM) that type of bearing quality is not good enough? or related to position of the fans are placed which shortens their life? enlighten me pls both. sleeve bearing are much lower quality than fluid dynamic bearing used by bitfenix or twister bearing used by enermax. sleeve bearing is not recommended to be mounted in horizontal fashion as it will further reduced its lifespan. |

QUOTE(工藤新一 @ Jun 19 2013, 08:18 PM) wondering why no one using Phanteks- PH-TC14PE? hardwaresecret link for Phanteks TC14PE review: linkhow if compare with Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro? Beside, I have a stupid question, is it usually 1 thermal paste (Ocz Freeze, Tuniq TX-2 and Arctic Cooling MX-2) is more than enuf for one time apply? ![]() those u bought from shops normally can last around 2 to 5 applications, depending on your application style |

QUOTE(Elans Joshpit @ Jan 6 2015, 12:48 AM) Planning on replacing the screws around my casing fans with alternatives. the silicone screws should be good enough to act as dampener for ur vibrating fans. don't find it really necessary in the first place though... Do you guys recommend silicone screws, rubber screws or these Lamptron rubber mounts? Will be using for them for the top exhaust and front intake. |
