I think it got your virus quarantined. BTW, does Avast or NOD32 got spyware protection built in ? Coz i just installed Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition Ver 10.. it got realtime antivirus and spyware protections.
*
hmm, what is your pc specs when using NAV corporate edition?

i tried both nod32 and kaspersky on a pc spec P3 550 with 384MB sd ram...

look like kaspersky taking more resource than nod32, but the detection kaspersky is better then nod32.

but now i still using nod32 in a P4 2800 with 512MB ddr ram, kaspersky in my pc still work very well, wonder which one is better... em...
*
same here, i am using nod32 on my office pc(P3with 192mb ram), and kaspersky on my P4.(1gb ram). Still wondering why nod32 can scan so fast than other antivirus.well, so far, nod32 2.5 works fine for me in my office.

i hv jst switch to kaspersky from Bitdeffender.(for my home pc)

Bitdeffender, in general is good, but sometimes its uses much resources to do the real time scan, for example, when double clicking My Computer, i can feel the lag. First i tot was my hardisk failing, after some test and removing bit defender, the lag was gone.

Install Kaspersky after that. Kaspersky looks fine, there is some lag, but not as lag as bitdeffender or Norton antivirus 2005(i used the trial version of Norton2005). But becareful of the detection rate, a detection rate of 100% doesnt mean the antivirus is good, we still hv to becareful about false detection(which the antivirus might be mistaken and deletes some of ur crucial files).

Bitdeffender has one of the best engine and thats why there is a software which combines both bitdeffender and kaspersky engines together.(well, bitdeffender maybe will lag my system, not sure about other user).

well, there might be a trade off between system resources and prevention+detection rates.

my question is, anyone try this b4?

(G Data AntiVirusKit 2005 (AVK)

well, i did install trial panda platinum edition 2005 on my P3 pc few months ago, uninstall it after few days. It claims to be very low in resources usage.

the main problem is not stable for my windows 98SE. It also slow down my pc performance.(using P3 with 192 ram + Windows 98SE)

Well, haven tested it on any WinXP based pc, maybe it will work fine on WinXP.

Nod32 did a great job on resource hogging free(scan engine is fast, but not as great as kapersky), but i was wondering, if anyone use an antivirus for protection, why would we want to scan our computer weekly or monthly?
*
hmm, in my opinion, the most of the antivirus, thier realtime scan is not as efficient(in term of Detecting and Cleaning) as the conventional scan engine. So thats why we still hv to conduct a full system scan weekly or monthly.

well, maybe norton beefed up thier Real Time Scan, thats why it uses up so many resources.

currently..i din use any product of antivirus...i juz using Spyware Doctor..zonealarm..adware pro only..is tat not good for my com if i din use antivirus??

i din use coz i think antivirus is lebih de...but i donno..juz wan u all proz suggestion...smile.gif
*
well, u better get an antivirus fast, at least get those free one such as AVG or avast.

for normal users, Pc-cillin 2005 is a good choice. I have been using Pc-cillin for few years after swtiching from norton. It is very effective in cleaning out virus compared to Nod32(before version 2).

Currently using kaspersky on my primary PC and Nod32(2.5) on my secondary pc. So far kaspersky is doing a good job( a bit lag compare with pc-cillin 2005) and the latest nod32 2.5 is doing good also, with its additional spyware scan engine.

bear in mind, the clean engine is also important as it repairs the files and registry and not jst deleting the infected files.

anyone know how to update NOD32 2.5 manually if don't have Internet?

can download update files and install on other PC that don't have Internet access?
*
http://www.nod32.com/support/nodfaq2.htm

Can NOD32 be updated without access to the Internet?
Yes - typically one computer in the network is set up as the update server - that computer is linked to the Internet and is updated from the NOD32 sever. Other computers in the network go to this update server for updates. For more information, please read the Guide for network administrators.

no way if i wan to update a stand-alone machine?
*
yeah, u still need to connect to the network.

well, maybe this is some of the reason ppl use norton, as norton av can be updated using diskett.
the old pc-cillin has this function, but i think new pc-cillin 2005 dont hv that function.
