death metal is too heavy for me. And the musical structure are complex too, thus make it sound less catchy to my ears than thrash metal.

for me thrash is more difficult.. death metal have melody but thrassh is like cha cha cha cha well.. thrash.. cant understand at all rclxub.gif

i listen to galneryus everyday.. and i still pray like any normal muslim..  smile.gif
*
Galneryus is not black metal laugh.gif

Yeah those kids think that listening to black metal they have to worship satan or shit like that... Although I stop listening to black metal stuff more to death metal, those who like them only listening to the music not because they worship satan. Im sure those kids are just listening to it to be cool and dont really enjoy the music

Black metal bands dont even want to perform here or shit because the supporters are not large enough.. Not worth to fly all the way from US/Europe to perform for a crowd of 100 people

I'm lamenting on the fact that I don't have enough money to complete Metallica's CD collection. dammit. Only then I can move to Judas Priest. Kinda loved them after sampling The Hellion/ Electric Eye.

Btw, do any of you guys know where I can legitly sample Metal band music? I don't really wanna download, I just wanna try a few songs and decide if the album is worthy of picking up. If all else fails, Itunes. haha.
*
try in youtube.. i always sample in youtube then buy the real album if i like it..
worse if dun haf i will download it then if like it i will buy the real thing.

yup genre is subjective but if all the bands there are playing punk rock style and Im looking for death metal I will be wastibng my time sampling all bands... i mean not that punk rock suck but maybe 1% of the bands i sample will get to my ears.

Maybe at least band similarity or something like that...

Its like going to a jpop review website to search for a metal band without any info about the bands.. u know what i mean..

Asian dont have the time to make great music.. They have to work hard to feed the family the government doesnt give free money to jobless people wink.gif

Unlike european u can just shake your balls at home and get money for a living every month.. thats why they have a lot of time to make great music

lol, maybe i'm tired and it's gone totally over my head, but i'm totally not sure if you're being serious.

Anyways, there are plenty of Asian bands people consider to be brilliant.

As I see it, Japan has the biggest scene followed by Korea, then after that I guess it's a toss up between Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and maybe the Philippines since it seems to be quite Americanised. Actually I saw a documentary on Punk in China which was an eye opener.
*
nah.. Japan biggest will be Jpop/Jrock. And i dont think their metal scene is that big althought much more bigger compared to Malaysia or most parts of Asia. I couldnt get much of my favourite metal songs here. Or maybe its just that they have metal scenes but not as widespread as US/European because of the language barrier. Their power metal bands, trying to sing in english makes them suck. I prefer them to sing in Japanese. Still they have the Loud park event every year but most of the bands playing are foreign bands

One of my favouritest metal bands, although I see they dont realy get much support. I tried getting their albums but apparently not really sold in record stores so i have to download them. Sad to see great musicians not really being paid for their talent. Underground i guess..

Of course Japan's biggest music scene would be pop, that is de-facto everywhere. I doubt there is a country on Earth where Metal is the most popular music of the nation.

I'd still maintain that Japan has the biggest metal scene in Asia. I'm not just referring to amount of bands, but also the purchasing market. Whenever bands come to this side of the world, it is guaranteed that they'll play Japan (not just Tokyo either, multiple dates) because the market is there, people have the money and will turn up to the gigs. Japanese bands also get out and play Europe and Asia on a regular basis.

I agree with the comment about bands singing in English, kinda takes away from their 'voice'. Although there are some bands that do manage to keep an authenticity to them. There are some bands who can't hold a conversation in English, but will have songs sung in English, makes me wonder how the hell they wrote them.

Coming back to one of your earlier comments, do you really think that European/north American countries produce more bands because they are more well off financially?
*
I think you can say that Europe is where metal is most popular music. I cant think of much pop stuff from Europe. or maybe im not well exposed to Europe pop laugh.gif

Financially is a minor factor. Maybe a bigger factor is that the metal scene there is very big. Combining with their attitude and convenience of getting free cash without having to work, it kinda motivates them. You know something like they can get to do the things they love without having to think about working to support their living. ALso the tax there is very high which makes them lazy to work laugh.gif

Just my opinion/imagination.. Reality might be totally different tongue.gif
