"Heavy metal is a way of life" - Dave Mustaine

"Well, you can see a guy with long hair and say,' That guy is a metal person.' But more often then not, when some woman is in her car, and her car is broken down on the side of the road, who is the person who stops to help her? It's usually the kid who has the long hair, who works at the grocery store. The same kid who will take out your grocery's to your car. People who are fans of other types of (pop, rock) music, they're very fickle. They'll go which ever way the wind blows. They are fair weather fans. Heavy metal fans are very conservative. They like what they like and they don't like what they don't like. They know a couple of sexual positions and they like one type of beer of cigarette and they've got their true blue favorite style of music. Which is heavy metal. You can get a guy who is a fighter jet pilot or someone who makes food products for a living and they can both be Megadeth or heavy metal fans and they can both sit down and have meeting of the minds, regardless of what their career is. hahaha, but i really prefer Physical medium over digital download even if the digital download is the original or legal. It's a good feeling to browse the booklet while listening to the album for the 1st time. I hope physical medium last forever although some of artist prefer digital downloading today.

Yup, just visit any CD store in SG and you'll DEFINITELY find stuff you'd NEVER get in Malaysia. I usually visit the HMV at The Heeren on Orchard Road, its a huge a** 3-story music shop with literally ANY genre you're looking for. Can even pre-order albums sometimes if you're lucky!!
But i can't really go overseas. Still a college student.

yeah i agree collecting cds is damn addictive.. nearly got suck in it but didnt tongue.gif

I have the urge to buy more cds but only those that are really attractive such as having some extras other than just their tracks like maybe +dvd or some other shit.. other than that i dont c it any different from just downloading lol...

i try to find some good reason for me to buy hahahahahahha

i think the more you love the band the more you'll appreciate their music. the way to show your appreciation is buy the original music. Beside support the band, you'll get no compromise audio quality. I think i have spent thousands of RM for my favourite music from Nrocinu -> Michael Jackson. The record shop is like my heaven. I can spend hours in the record shop just for browsing.

yeah, i know that (very expensive) but i still buy because Kedai Auntie did not open yet at that time (10:30 a.m) and because i can't contain myself.
Surely next time that shop will be my last resort. Megadeth Remixed & Remastered 2004 only sell at price RM49.90 at Rock Corner everywhere in Malaysia but the shop put a price tag of RM78 - RM88. What make them slap that expensive price?

___________________________________________________________________________________

and how about Kedai Auntie? Is the price cheaper and reasonable?

Tough luck. Kedai Auntie will only be open at 3.00pm onwards or whatever time that is convenient to the owners.

And if you're lucky, their daughter will come together with them but only on a certain day of the week. I'm not going to disclose which day  tongue.gif

p/s - Everybody want to go to Kedai Auntie all of a sudden at a mere mention of hot chick aye?

no la many of us still new into metal. I also can be consider new because this is only 5-6 years my journey of metal. Kinozawa recommended several shop because he is old timer and he mention Nebiula, Acoustic and Auntie. And Kedai Auntie seem the most reliable. I didn't know that shop is so near with my study place and rent house. I guess next sem i'm gonna plan my budget wise.

Agreed!
Acoustic? Huh.. They don't mind putting CDs at high prices. We understand their reason, some CDs are imported via internet or by foreign suppliers (mostly Singapore). But it's funny when customers mention about high price, they quickly suggest that they can copy the CD to CDR for RM20. So imagine with rare titles, they got lot of profits by duplicating the originals. I don't know whether they still doing that or not. Oh well.. It just business.

When I was in record store business, "Best Buy" Cds and "Remasters" and "Reissues" CDs were all around RM 38-RM49.. and those were from local suppliers.

As for kedai "Auntie", anybody with Google skills can be so called "Metal Expert" these days. Sometimes I think that she's trying too much to blend in. Again, it just business. If you want to sell something, you have to know your products. Can't really blame her. Actually "Uncle" knows a lot of 80s Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands. But really choosy on customer he wants to talk about it. Some of old metallers named it (Sifu Syndrome).

As for Khannaz boys' shop.. I like the shop because he never bother asking you "Mau cari CD apa?".. They just let you do your browsing. For me, when I enter a CD store, I'm not a fan of  people following me and asking me what CD that I'm looking for. I mean, leave me alone, man. I can help myself. I like to browse each rows of the CD section to make sure I don't miss anything. Hehehe.

It's hard to find good CD store nowadays. I miss the old days. You have to be rajin in surveying. Best bet is to be friend with fellow listeners. You might get lucky when old timers decide to sell some of their stuff. Second hand market not bad either.

Oh.. For those who looking for second hand turntables can check at Mudah.my.

I think that shop really can do well in this industry with their product and why must tarnish their reputation by doing pirating stuff?

Finally i got a copy of Megadeth - The World Needs A Hero which is RM78 from Acoustic Music. I think it's pretty expensive but i didn't care because it is banned in Malaysia still today. Musical wise, i think it may please today modern metal youth crowd. Songs like Disconnect, 1000 Times Goodbye, Recipe for Hate, Promises and Return to Hangar would pleased them all. Beside that, the album sound great. It mix really well, you can hear Ellefson bassline without drowning the guitar riff. And the snare and kick drum sound also powerful and laid back. I like it more than Endgame sound.

Tower Record doesn't exist anymore. I remember checking the shop at 1Utama last year. And that place has changed to something inferior.

i heard it was banned because of black metal incident back in 2001 + the Cover artwork look gore so government assume Megadeth is a black metal band. I don't know the full story maybe brother Kinozawa can explain more.
