RIP Ronnie James Dio.

I heard the news right after the deep purple concert. What turn out to be a memorable weekend, ends in sad note.

To the holy diver, HAIL.

*
hmmm.. your response on thrash metal - 'just random hitting that generates noise' was very similar to my colleague's when she heard me playing them in the car. well, nothin much can be said, so i told her : "are you kidding me? these are ear-gasm piece of ar, babeh! (in a 'joking-ly' way of cuz. haha)"

=)

cheers~~!!

Chthonic Live in Singapore

Taiwanese metal gods ChthoniC will be playing a show in Singapore this July! They will be in the county as part of their Mirror of Retribution Tour.

As one of the biggest Asian bands out there, ChthoniC has plenty to be proud about. The five-piece band have five albums under their belt - Mirror of Retribution being their latest - and also have the honour of being the first Asian act to ever play at Ozzfest and Wacken Festival. They have a rep for fusing traditional Chinese instruments to their music that gives them a sound that's completely unique in the metal world. Also, the media loves them - they were voted as the best band of 2009 by UK magazine Terrorizer, and way back in 2006, Revolver named them as a band to watch. Also, their bassist Doris Yeh is regarded as one of the hottest women in music.

If you consider yourself a metalhead, you do NOT want to miss out on their Singaporean concert.

DETAILS

When: 14 August, 7pm

Where: The Republic Cultural Centre, Singapore

Tickets: $55 (pre-sale), $70 (August onwards and at the door). Click HERE for info on where to buy tickets.

Anyone heard about this?
My life is complete if they do!

Iron Maiden to perform in Indonesia?

IRON MAIDEN To Play Indonesia In February? - Oct. 2, 2010

The Jakarta Post reports that British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN will perform in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Bali in February 2011, a local promoter said on Sunday. "They [IRON MAIDEN] have confirmed it," Tommy Pratama, a promoter from Original Production, according to TempoInteraktif.com.

The Jakarta show will likely take place on either February 17 or February 18, with the Bali concert to follow two days later.

Rod Smallwood, IRON MAIDEN's longtime manager, told The New York Times that more than 800,000 copies of the band's latest album, "The Final Frontier", had been shipped to retailers around the world by the end of August, with the group having sold about 85 million records in its 30-year career.

"A lot of bands could learn a lot from MAIDEN," Smallwood said. "MAIDEN is essentially about the relationship with the fans, and nothing comes between that. They don't want to be rock stars. They just enjoy playing for the fans."

According to David Kassler, chief operating officer of EMI for Europe, digital tracking services showed only small levels of illegal downloading of "The Final Frontier", which is attributable in part to the fact that IRON MAIDEN's songs do not fit the mold of a radio single — three of them, on the newest release, are more than nine minutes long.

"You'd expect some people to be pirating, but they don't," Kassler told The New York Times. "They want the physical album. They love the artwork, the lyrics. It's something they want to show their friends and family."

When i redecorated my house, i threw all my old thrash metal cassettes into the trash with heavy hearted. Sepultura, Death, Slayer, Sodom, Napalm Death, Destrcution to name few.

Now just watch their concert on youtube. Funny to think on those days i only wear those group printed black tshirt every where i go including to lecture hall.

One of my all time favorite album

Sg is overpriced, the limitations on stage diving/pyro etc just dulls the experience, and since our currency is stronger than IDR, I would spend less in a week in Bali than 3 days in SG considering I would be doing my fair share of shopping, sightseeing, clubbing etc.
*
erk.. why the hell would you want to stage dive and mosh in a iron maiden concert. i think it show greatly disrespectful to them. I.. at the moment, after countless iron maiden concerts on Youtube and dvds still have not seen any mosh or stage dive goin on at their concert.

respect the gods. headbang at ur best.

cheers.
