Not really. It only took me a min at most to download each of the map.
What really is gruesomely long though, is the videos. 5-10 mins to stream? Damnnn.... They better improve this when the entire beta goes online to public later on this year. |

I think he means the loading from location to location...not the downloading of the location file. Still the loading from location to location takes me more than a min....quite annoying

"Downloading" the videos on the theatre screens is a whole different matter though. Its actually longer than 10 minutes, for whatever the damn reason is. These sort of trailers, the file size are less than 50mb. And if I can download a 35mb map in a minute, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes for the videos to stream. |

they have: 1. Remote Control Boats 2. World Map (HK also got this but how come cannot access to other map) 3. Arcade Game (seems like they have different games than HK one) xaci xadil, why HK dont have all that stuff? what about SG Home, u all have it too? Gone around in Home for quite a bit already.
My impressions thus far: Home currently IMO, is nothing more than a social network service which of course its main purpose is. However, Sony hypes this up more than just being a social network MMO, they go on about saying the amount of other activities you can do in Home. Be it playing casual games like pool or bowling, its nice definitely but it comes out as rather shallow. Sony even says Home will replace your XMB granted that you have an online connection. I don't nessasarily think that this is the case though. Especially when the biggest problem of Home being the amount of loading, a tad bit sluggish interface, and just overall an annoyance to just launch your games from the XMB or do whatever you want from ther instead. The potential certainly is there for Home, but first and the bloody foremost, Sony NEEDS and MUST fix these excessive load time nonsense. I can't belief the fact that each map is so small and everytime we go to a different space it takes a damn nice 15-20 secs to load. Why can't Home just have no load times is beyond me, can't the game just take 30 secs to load from the very begining and then after that everything is seamless? This brings me to next issue, the video trailers shown on the theatres. I have no bloody idea if its the problem with service or just downright that screamyx is sucks. How ironic is it when I can download the Summer Home map in 1 min and 12 secs(yea I timed it) and it takes me 19 minutes and 48 seconds to stream the damn Hakuna Matata vid in the Marketplace?! I am very, very sure that the filesize of that video is no larger than 60mb. Its not even 720p for god's sake. There are many kinks to work out in Home and I can tell so far, it isn't ready for the public yet. Sony's decision to release it later this year as a "Beta" is a good choice to hide themselves behind the "Its still a beta!" excuse. Conclusion, Home doesn't quite live up to the hype. Atleast not yet when theres still too little people around using it. |

Long Loading blows. And furnishing your home space is a bit tedious too!
I can't be too arsed about streaming video and whatnot tbh. Games are fun, but yes after awhile.. think it's like a fad really. Ho-hum. This post has been edited by VashTheStampede: Sep 20 2008, 04:48 PM |
