But I recalled some statement from TR saying they did that to take into account of the curve from the processor's heatspread or something lols. But then again, shouldn't all of the base should be as flat as possible?

Lucky thing CCF's base is quite flat biggrin.gif. Might try to lap it when I've ample of time to kill in future when cleaning my PC laugh.gif

Well, true also. I compared with friend's Xigmatek the 3 pipe non RS, CCF's base is better smile.gif. The gap between pipes also closer.

Nice temps! I've been wondering how you all manage to get such low idling =/

My system seems to be getting the worse results among the CCF users here.

Yea..compare to stock cooler  doh.gif  doh.gif

My CCF idle almost same with stock cooler, but load temperature differs a bunch.
*
^ Same experience I had. My CCF idles just 3-4C below my Intel HSF at max fan speed for the stock HSF, but at load it chops about 10-15C off. Can't really recall what my load temp was like back then. Noise level decreased a lot as well with the CCF smile.gif.

That's why I'm itching to see the picture of the setup biggrin.gif. Wonder how to mount the fan on the other side hmm.

I think if the 4 mounting holes position the same, it will probably fit the CCF though.

^ Yea, got comparison of temperature? biggrin.gif. Both the load and idle hehe. See if it is worth to lap CCF or not.

I'm thinking to lap mine following neehyan's style biggrin.gif. 2000 grit all the way. Won't eat much like those using 600 800 1000 on those heatsink with base.

if u do it carefully it wont have any problem
hmm.... just wana ask, what teknik u use for lapping ya? lap in one direction only or move it in a round circling motion?
*
One direction, circular motion might eat into the metal too fast.

actually there is a reason to start off with coarser sandpaper... u will need to remove some metal to make the surface flat
*
=/ CCF base is quite flat enough already ma, just need to make it more flatter. So I suppose 2000 onwards is enough.
