QUOTE(kfthoo @ Sep 24 2008, 01:57 PM) Do any of you notice that the ahem dvd sometime don't have the usual picture ratio of 16:9, it is longer where 2 black pane appear at top and bottom of the flat panel tv....is it usual?? Not all movies are true 16:9 (1.78) ratio.. It varies wif de director/producers to offer it from 1.78 rite up to 2.42 n all tis is ws.. if more than 1.78 then u ll be gettin black bars at top n bottom even if ur tv is a ws set.. |

Aiya..
All tis old movies if remaster to bluray nids a lot of work.. they (producers) nid to dig out de original film (negative) to remaster it properly .. if they take de master cp of SD n rework it from tat, then itd look really bad.. |

QUOTE(callmevil @ Sep 24 2008, 04:24 PM) PS3 decodes any HD format available.. like ppl said here, it just dont bitstream them as it does all the decoding by itself edi.. now some say good, some say not good, and some say no diff.. my take is.. Haha, since decoding requires ram/processor.. the ps3 has one of the best processor available now.. even vs those from intels.. therefore... la la la and the ps3 can load bds at blazing speed compared to other bd players.. now as it being the best, its just as dirtrun said.. it may not be the best.. but it is damn right the most value.. dirt, check out the new elite pioneer bd player.. aiman linked it before.. ANALOGUE AUDIO OUT!!! How I wish were in tat salary range wif tat kind of disposable income.. Ps3 pun Ps3 la... Dirtrun PS : I dunt get why pioneer is marketin themselves as n upmarket bdp manu since in sd they had budget players too..weird really not tat they carry de arcam name or sumthin.. |

QUOTE(nadky @ Nov 4 2008, 04:06 PM) Anyone know how does a Denon 1940 compare to Pioneer DV610? The price is quite a big different. Not sure whether worth to spend the money. Heard Denon has much better PQ and AQ considering the chips that they are using.... Hi,If u r considerin de 19** series denon, I d suggest u read de rvws for de oppo 981/983.. Better value for money.. n it dont lose out on anythin |

QUOTE(bmipp @ Nov 4 2008, 08:02 PM) Where can buy this? Well,The features are stunning, only one thing does it read even scratched disc like Pioneer DV610 I tested the usual unplayable disc in other DVD player in my Pioneer DV610, it plays exceptionally well! surprisingly How about Oppo? I got my 981 from our neighbor down under for ard RM1.2k, if not mistaken.. Donno abt scratched discs - why do u nid to play scratched discs n if u do , do u really expect it to play flawlessly? Ah.. but if u mean d5/9's then ya no prblms .. sum discs tat cant play on my pioneer 270 n 380 can play on de oppo.. wat do you expect from a china based player?? Cheers Dirtrun |

Trust me ..
Oppo is made in china.. If not mistaken .. de makers are actually a taiwanese/singaporean jt venture but made in China ( They hv an agent in Sg..) their sole purpose is to use gud quality parts tat matters n cheaper parts where it dont so to minimise cost.. Oso they dont use much for media ads .. preferin online sales n word of mouth rvws.. Its a llitle cheaper now - I tink its sub S$400( I bot for 430.. I think..) now cos there is a newer model - 983 wif a new vdo chipset, even better I heard.. BTW.. from ur views.. u all seem to hv it against china made products.. do u know there are sum great hifi stuff cumin from there now.. Shanling to name one.. n a couple of hybrid tubes - I forgot de name liao.. N oso where do u tink ur marantzs, onkyos, lower end denons are made ?? Cheers Dirtrun |
