Anyone using 8GB SDHC on his D40? I was thinking to get a new 8GB so I can take photos in RAW format without worry out of spaces.
What brand of SD is recommended for 8GB?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

hehehee...if you are using D40 or D60, the RAW+JPEG setting, JPEG is only basic not fine. The quality might not be that good if compare to JPEG fine. If you know how to PP then straight away shot only RAW format, save some spaces for your SD card

If you have a tight budget can buy Nikkor 55-200mm VR. A lot cheaper compare to 18-200mm VR.

Even outdoor portrait shooting sometimes you also need a flash. I will say go for flash first since your kit lense can still be used for a while before you invest in another lense.

Anyone know when this lense will be coming to local market? AFS 35mm f/1.8
Heard that this lense is more affordable compare to 50mm f/1.4 and of course capable of autofocus with D60/D40/x |

QUOTE(illegaldragon87 @ Apr 10 2009, 01:23 PM) i would suggest to go for a flashgun... 50mm later... last time when i owned a D40, i have the same prob wit u... but i ended up get a 50mm 1.8 lens... itz not hard to MF wit D40, but jus definitely waste ur time in getting good shots... getting a flashgun definitely helps u a lot in indoor shooting... You can consider now 35mm f1.8G which able to autofocus with D40. |

ya, I do agree with xandman. You should make use of what you have currently and try to shot more photos, then only decide what's the next lens to buy. For myself, I stick to kit lens for a year before I purchase 55-200mm and 35mm. The immediate purchase after my D40 was SB600 to compliment the indoor low light shooting and it was a good investment. The differences are huge.

QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Apr 21 2009, 05:40 PM) chewlf, keyyeonh,do you have sample pics comparing with and without the SB600? me a newbie in dslr and just bought a d40...my next purchase plan is the SB600... thanks... I will upload some photos for you to review when have time. It won't be wrong if you go for SB600 first especially taking photo indoor. Even for outdoor portrait shooting, I also use to reduce the face shadow. |

QUOTE(alpha_company @ May 1 2009, 02:48 PM) For D40/D60 users, I would think that SB400 or SB600 should be more than enough. SB800 or SB900 is too heavy and big size if use on D40/D60 body. If you need to carry few lens plus SB800 or SB900, your shoulder will be hurt If you have read kenrockwell website before, you will know that he is using SB400 on D40 and able to produce very nice photos. I have own a SB600 but sometimes I also lazy to carry out due to the size of it. Unless there is an event and I need to use it then only I will carry out |
