Hello guys. new to DSLR. Still noob. I wanna ask. I want to get myself a digital slr in the range of about 2k and is the d60 that much better than d40x? or maybe d60 is not so far in terms of performance against d40x?
1. Why in Nikon Malaysia's website D40X is in the discontinued list while the older D40 is still in the list?
2. What are the main and important differences of D40/D40x and D60? (other than megapixel count)
3. About lens compatibility. can anybody give info on this? what is the diff between this two lenses?
Nikkor AF 70-300mm F4-5.6G & Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6G VR ??
If there's no AF-S can I use a normal AF lens to autofocus on d60 and d40x???

Thanks for the explaination. Another thing, A D40 flash Sync Contact is faster than even D80 and D40x right? so if i got a much better flash on a d80 it wont make a diff because of the slower flash sync right? Generally does this effect the quality of the pictures taken? Considering D60 right now and another dslr brand. plz advice. Added on April 10, 2009, 8:41 amUPDATE : because nobody here even wants to explain to me about nikon cameras.. i'm going for Sony Alpha.. QUOTE(darthbaboon @ Apr 10 2009, 04:13 PM) I get disgusted by immature comments such as these. Pfff.... as if we're gonna shed tears over one less Nikon user. As if Nikon's gonna close their doors just because an independent forum failed to provide enough support to a potential customer. None of us earn commissions through our answers and we're all doing this for the fun of it and to help one another. If you wanna waltz in here like some queen and demand answers in a particular timeframe I suggest you take out your big fat wallet and put your money where your demands are.... then maybe I might *consider* replying if you tempt me enough. nevermind..taking A series anyways.. made up my mind might consider replying? as if i need you to reply. LOL..that's a barrel of laughs.. as if i'm gonna shed tears over one useless comment. ps. ur work is getting to u ..for sure thanks again to all the other especially xandman for all the explainations. bye2... QUOTE(calvin_gsc @ Apr 15 2009, 03:31 AM) Assuming you're using D40/x/60. You can only use the following: AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM Tokina AT-X 124 PRO DX II With other wide angles, you wont be able to AF. thanks for the info btw, someone advised me to get a wide angled and wide aperture lens so that i can take pics in wide angled but most importantly i can do so in low light/ indoors. f4 is not wide aperture right? got something like f2.8 wide angled lens? i wanna take wedding pics and need help guys.. what model/brand lenses should i get. 55-200 i got already. QUOTE(darthbaboon @ Apr 15 2009, 03:13 PM) I might be aging more than I originally thought... but didn't you already buy the Alpha, and proclaimed so loudly only a couple o pages back? If you have indeed bought the D60, grats on your purchase. I'm not gonna be nasty about it but I would advise that being humble in your comments don't hurt, especially if you're new to a group. Wedding pics... get the 17-50mm f2.8 Tamron, and get yourself a good flash SB-600 or some Nissin. 55-200 isn't necessary unless you're not the main photographer and have trouble getting into prime spots. yeah i've got d60 because of the lighter weight and better feel in my hands. 17-50mm f2.8 has a af-s motor right? rm1.x k? nissin what model?

QUOTE(zio @ Apr 15 2009, 04:45 PM) The better ones among the kit lens. But I think the 18-105mm is as good optically. Although the built is not as good as the 18-70mm. which is more suitable for weddings? wide lens wise..which is wider?

QUOTE(shiinkuro31 @ Apr 15 2009, 09:59 PM) no source to try, only u are my hope.. for a guy who likes to tell people to GOOGLE... y dont u give that a try.. anyways ... here it is Added on April 16, 2009, 1:03 amQUOTE(zio @ Apr 15 2009, 09:50 PM) Wah xand's 2nd hand price so expensive I think the 18-105mm is about 700-800 used. You get an extra 35mm. Not too sure whats the aperture wide open at 70mm though. Wonder if its 4.5... that means that 18-70 is cheaper right? between those two.. which i should get for wide angle pics/wedding pics? This post has been edited by alpha_company: Apr 16 2009, 01:03 AM
