QUOTE(Synthesia @ Jan 3 2009, 05:35 PM) Anyone with suggestions? Low budget = 50mm f1.8 the bestI currently have a D60 ,Kitlens and a 50mm 1.8 . I'm planning to sell my 50mm 1.8 to fund for other portrait lens as this lens can't AF with d60 and that is just VERY disturbing. Anyone with suggestions on what should i get next? I'm a student with low budget. Sb600/Sb800 Portait lens , with AF on d60 or zoom lens, 80-200mm or smth O_O? If you want something that can AF on D60, only AF-S 50mm f/1.4 which cost RM 1.6k or sigma 30mm f/1.4 which cost RM 1.3k zoom lens that can AF on D60 also not much. nikkor 1 would be AF-S 70-300 VR which cost RM 1.8k |

QUOTE(Synthesia @ Jan 4 2009, 12:27 AM) Wow, crap. I just checked most of the lenses. The lens that i want doesn't AF with this d60. Damn, i so regret getting a D60 now. What the heck man. Sell D60. Find old D50/ D80 and you're ready to AF with cheapo lens like 50mm Lenses like 70-200mm 50mm 1.8 All can't AF with d60. If can't AF then what lens should one get laa? Omg, i'm really out of my mind right now. Am on low budget, and buying cheap lens will need me to Manual Focus it. my god. |

What he mean is, sell d40/x/d60, grab AFD-50mm f/1.4 and remaining cash to upgrade to at least D80 so that can AF

QUOTE(orenzai @ Jan 4 2009, 10:39 PM) no what he meant was use the money that can be used to bnuy the 1.4 to upgrade to d80 I, too would do that. Basically, I already did that I'd opt for 2nd choice FIRST since i already have a d40, so why hurry to upgrade to a better body but get stucked with a lousier lens? ![]() |

QUOTE(ruehyinn @ Jan 5 2009, 07:12 PM) It has been a while since I post my last message. Since then, I already sold my Nikon D60's kit lens and replaced with Tamron 17-50 f2.8. The experience of picture taking has changed. The tammy added with SB600 works amazingly, really. To be frank I was initially very excited with my D60 + kit lens. But after 7 months I started to realized it has a lot of limitation. One of it is poor picture at poor lighting. I have contemplated to sell D60 + kit lens and replace with D90 but that is not a sensible option since budget is an issue. So I consider to purchase big aperture lens but they are really expensive. After much research, I eventually settle with Tamron 17-50 f2.8. First of all, happy and glad that you like your D60 with Tamron 17-50.I realized a lot of people has concern about the non-motorized body for D60 but for me that no longer a concern. I realized Canon which is designed by engineers (Nikon is designed by photographer) has long been upgraded to non-motorized body and use motorized lens. Therefore, in the future, I believe all lens designed by Nikon will be a motorized one. In fact, that will be the future. Sooner or later, non - motorized lens will be obsolete. The way I look at is this... if Nikkor lens is pricey, do consider Tamron or Sigma... they are good. I was quite surprise with Tamron lens, they are very sharp and nice. Best of all, they are affordable. However, one disadvantage of Tamron and Sigma (3rd party lens) are many of them do not have VR technology but they are slowly coming out with VR technology (Vibration Compensator for Tamron and Optical Stability for Sigma). I think VR is required when you buy big zoom lens. That is why for big aperture lens I only consider Tamron 17-50 f2.8. For affordable zoom lens, right now I am considering Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S (can use for full frame camera too) and I am definitely aiming for Nikkor 50mm AF-S. Wonder when will it be available in Malaysia? Overall, I feel adequate with my D60 + Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 + SB600 and I am happy with it. Together with Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S and Nikkor 50mm AF-S it will be just perfect for prosumer photographer like me. I still RM3000 plus though to get the two lens..hehehe! To check the pictures I have taken with my Nikon D60, just log on to My Webpage. I hope my opinion helps. Cheers to D60 Nikonian... Nikkor lens, no doubt is pricey. But you pay peanuts, you get monkey. Do you ever play with AF-S 17-55 f/2.8 DX ? I believe once you touch it, you will never say Tamron or Sigma is good. And you said you gonna get AF-S 50mm f/1.4, it's already here with the price tagged at RM 1.6k. With that price tagged, if I'm in your shoes, I'd have sell off D60 and grab 2nd hand D80 and I'm ready to shoot with what ever old even. Be it AF-S or AFD. So, if you think smart enough to get AF-S 50mm , think again. AFD 50mm f/1.4 only RM 900 which mean you pay extra 700 for the AF-S version. Put away the quality and other factors, with the RM 700 extra, add in a bit after selling your D60, I can already use all the AFD lenses without a problem. Be it 50mm f/1.8 (RM 350) , 35mm f/2 (RM 1k), all this lens will have no problem AF on any camera above D80 ! |
