I just got a pair of hamsters for my birthday... hahaha
My friend a bit blur though.. she never ask bout the age and breed and stuff... but from what i see i think they are syrians.. cos the first day when they still in the same cage they were fighting quite a bit..
but now i put in separate cages already... Named them Ebony & Ivory.. hehe
Both still don't let me carry much.. i have to struggle to catch them... is that normal?
and i though female hamsters were more aggresive than male hamsters... but Ivory (female) is nicer to me than Ebony.... he bites hard!

QUOTE(Jamien @ Sep 1 2008, 09:49 PM) Hi, congratulations on being a new owner! And they're so lucky to have such an understanding owner like you. If they really are syrians they should never be housed together. So good job! btw, another member's WW hamsters are named Ebony and Ivory too. My female is also a lot tamer than my male when they firs arrived. It depends on how your hammies were brought up, as in how much human contact they had. Roche was born in a home breeder's place so she's a lot tamer than my Ferro whom I bought from a pet shop. Although now they're both very tame lar. Taming doesn't happen overnight. Bribe them more often and try to handle them daily for half an hour or more. Let them be comfortable with the idea that you're their provider. Love = patience + sacrifice. Good luck! eh thanks for the help! haha.. im handling ivory as much as i can.. but but.. ebony wont let me near him at all...!

blurjoey :sable banded?.. wow cool.. haha.. im such a hammie noob... yea the cage is identical... i did prior research online when i got the hamsters and i suspected they were syrian so i separated them..
hmmm... i guess since they still young this cage still can tahan rite? i wont have the space until end of the yr.. when moving house...
Added on September 3, 2008, 4:23 pmhey another guestion.. about prestige... I wanna change to prestige food... is it enough to give the hammies just prestige or is it better to mix with other things? like what is the best combination?
..and hamsters like it rite?

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Sep 3 2008, 04:32 PM) They looked like about 3-4 weeks old... Still small now... When they get bigger they will require bigger space to roam and a bigger wheel at 8" in diameter. Also try to give them fresh veges and fruits or better yet Nezu's smoothie along with their dry food. Yup! Sable got those cream colored eye rings. You can mixed 1 pack of Prestige or (1/2 pack of Prestige & 1/2 pack of Harry Hamster) with 1/4 pack of Britter Bunny. Try giving them some good quality dog kibbles for protein. Try to get those sample dog kibbles pack will be enough. dog kibble?! dog food? lol.. i have a dog..=X.. so 1pack prestige and 1/4 britter bunny.. if i add harry hamster i dun think my mum will accept buying so many food... =.=

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Sep 3 2008, 05:34 PM) But don't give those Pedigree or other brands you can get from Supermarket. Those brands are not healthy. I can't remember the names of dog kibbles I got from PetShack. You can give about 3-5 pellets per day for syrians. If I remember that cat kibbles cannot give to hamsters because it's too salty or something which will lead to hair/fur loss for the hamster. Britter Bunny is for the hamsters' fur. So that it will healthy, soft and shiny (sounds like shampoo commercial ). But there is some who will disagree with using Britter Bunny for hamsters' fur. So it's up to you to decide. my dog's pellets are NUTRIedge... are these any good?
