kdk and panasonic fans are the safest bet. if anything wrong with them, no fret, just call the hotline, and they will send someone over to rectify (under warranty period) for free, or a service charge if over warranty. you know the traditional fans with the regulator on the wall, these can last for ages!

QUOTE(mysjumblesale @ Feb 6 2012, 03:36 PM) Hi, I am using an Alpha celing fan with remote control (3 speed, Low, Medium, Hi). Currently, the remote is working (tested it with other Alpha fan installed in my house). i heard also problem with the electronic PCB. if KDK or Panasonic, I have a friend who just buy the PCB and change it. remote control no problem. but Alpha, don't know can do the same. Will try to ask him.The problem is with the ceiling fan. Whenever power button (on wall) is swittched on, the ceiling fan will turn at the highest speed. Remote control could not control the fan's speed, as well as the on/off function. I suspect the "Receiver" of the fan is not working.... Can I ask if any expert here would like to share and let me know how to deal with this issue? I have contacted service center and changing the "receiver" would cost about RM100 including service charge... =) Cheers and thanks in advance. =) that's why I always advocate KDK/Panasonic |

actually, fans with the traditional regulator is the most durable. if the regulator sticks like a sore thumb on the walls (which is normally the case), change it to a fan control switch. There are a lot of brands in the market, Schneider, Legrand, etc. Those remote control fans usually have problems with the electronic circuit board and also the remote control.
