i would, too, but my ceiling height is not made for the r8. a shorter stalk will affect the efficiency of the fan, so might as well get one that's designed for low ceiling..

My ceiling height is 8' little bit more... I use kdk baby fan, cute looking and the wind very good. My nephew saw my fans, and then fix for his condo (even though ht is 9' or more) becuz so cute.

KDK V touch and Senza need a special hook according to the kdk website. Would changing the hook on a concrete ceiling be difficult to do?

Are you sure ?? i check on the website but did not find anything regarding the hook.Check the video on the website regarding installation of it and seem like it is only a normal U hook . Pls advise more...
anyway i bought a V Touch K15Y2-GS unit yesterday and plan to just hook into the existing hook...

According to the website, there is a recommended hook size for V touch (60" 5 blades), V touch junior (56" 4 blades) and Senza.

Actually I have a v touch installed in my living room concrete ceiling, and I honestly dont know what size hook my electrician had put there. I am not a discrening customer, but some forumers mentioned about shaking and such.

The KDK customer service lady consulted her technical dept and replied that to avoid problem (dont know what they are), better to change the hooks.

Incidentally, cima lighting in jalan 215 offer very good price for v touch, worked out to be 16% off the RRCP. The price is about the same as what is offered by the puchong light shops.

Now I want to ask, if change hook on ceiling boards, is it very straight forward?

Back to choice of fans, I think avoid the new brands.

I have to buy new fans now, 3 units in total because the fans I bought stopped working after 1 year. We saved (that is what the light shop lady said when she convinced my husband) because the imitation V touch cost RM200 less. On hindsight, I would rather use the RM250 to buy normal remote control kdk fans instead. AFter 1 year, I have to spend more to get new fans installed because the cost to instal is RM30 each.

Dont be penny wise pound foolish like. Buy only reliable brands.

A bit off topic, but I think it is not recommended to buy convection microwave oven. This is the second time that happen to me, first it was a Sharp and now a made in japan panasonic model that cost more than RM2000. Buy a separate oven and microwave and save the heartache

OK..thanks for the reply
Change hook...no tat straight forward i'm afraid. What u mean sud be plaster ceiling right.. U have to make a hole ( ard 1ft x 1 ft ) so that u have a room to work and taking down the existing hook which secure in a support ( normally a timber or the ceiling tee ) ...the u have to secure the new hook into it and make sure the existing support is still good enuf...
PS..i am no expert but saw few times how they works....

My one not plaster ceiling, the UAC fiberboard ceiling board type....

Aiya if involve so much work, maybe have to pay more workmanship... more cost!!!! vmad.gif vmad.gif

When we shop for our homes, just remember, good no cheap and cheap no good!!!! Ok this is more true for those who are not DIY savvy, because everytime we change something, it cost a lot to get someone to come do it... If want to save this fee, then have to wait until more fans (or lights) have died before getting an electrician to come to get a bulk discount. Sigh, a real born loser situation for dumbos like me. rclxub.gif

Is Alpha ceiling fan reliable? Firstly I plan to buy Panasonic yuragi, then the salesman intro me alpha. Which have the yuragi function and reverse function.

To avoid problem, I would go for established brands like Panasonic or KDK.
