Yes so many different ports or hacks for famicom. So they can have a totally new game or just a different versions of the original game. Usually they hack an existing game by changing its texts and picture arts. Last time I saw a website that teach you how to hack an aladdin to become a popeye famicom game
As for fighting games, I think famicom is not a decent console to play on such games as it's still 8 bits. Better plays fighting games on MD, much2 better graphic and faster action or on super famicom.
The only exception for 8 bit game is I think the Street Fighter Championship edition for pc-engine as it plays better than the full 16-bit counterpart on MD

Maybe what the pirates were thinking is like "Hey.. SF2 isn't only for 16Bit machines! Lets give some hope to the 8Bit juniors and earn some bucks!!". haha..
Wasn't lucky enough to own a 16Bit machine during my youth, so was forced to play their version, which IMHO plays quite ok

Totally agree, the PCE port of SF2CE is simply an impressive 8-Bit masterpiece! Gotta give props to the developers. I first tried that game on the PCE GT and was blown away immediately! Couldn't believe I'm playing a very close port of SF2CE on a handheld! That's pretty sick...
Now that you remind me, I think I'll play some tonight
