QUOTE(_skeevs @ Jan 10 2009, 01:09 PM) @gundamalpha whoa dude. nice collection of hardware there. Is this your collection of consoles that you've been owning over the years ? if it is, you are one lucky dude man Or have you been buying these off ebay over time ? Anyhoo, nice to see all that really. Consoles a little bit of both But retro games are from forums and eBay for sure since can't find in shops nowadays

QUOTE(nizam80 @ Jan 10 2009, 11:33 AM) Thanks bro. That's good news for me. But I'm not sure what's the correct voltage of the MD2. It's not stated in the manual. I guess, have to do some googling. You have a working MD2 also right, bro? Can check it for me if you have the time? Bro, the way it is used sounds familiar to me. I have it, but mine is called the Mega Key (i think it's 3rd party). My SSF2 cartridge requires to use it, as the game is from a different region. For the MD2 it's using 10V, while the older MD1 using 9V (U can see the voltage spec on the bottom of your MD console). If you have a famicom, the adapter will also working with MD and PC-Engine too, as they are about the same (+/-) voltage and are DC. But do not use the NES adapter as it's not DC but AC I believe, so pls don't do this unless you want to fry your adapter (and possibly your console) Yes, I have also Mega Key 2. For console of certain region, u cannot just put the cart inside the console so it serves as an adapter. I'm not sure whether it's only due to the different cart shape, but I heard that some games have a software region lock-out. Also there's a jumper you can set on the Mega Key (to set whether your console JPN, EUR or US), so it can be used on different consoles. This post has been edited by chronims: Jan 11 2009, 07:33 AM

Chronims, thanks for the valuable information. So, it must be DC type and not AC right, bro? This is the exact adaptor right? http://cgi.ebay.com.my/SEGA-MEGA-DRIVE-2-A...emZ380077776931I have a question. What does the "INPUT: AC100V" mean? Does it have to be "AC100V" and not "AC110V"? As for the Mega Key, mine jumper switches at the back of it too. I seem to have peeled of the yellow sticker for the jumper settings on the cart itself (when I was younger). Now I don't know the correct settings for each region. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

AC100/110V means the voltage on the wall socket.. that's US/JP standard. M'sia uses 220-260V, so you have to be careful on this

Just like Gundamalpha told u, 100V is Japan, 110-120V is US normally, so even for people in US (when they use JPN console) they should use the stepdown converter as the extra 10-20V can cause extra heat. If u have 100V/ 110-120V adapter you definitely need a stepdown converter, because MY uses 220-240V outage. You can buy this in many electronic/ computer shops. Or you can find asian/ australian/ european MD2 adapter which has an input of 220-240V, so you can just plug straight away. Or you can buy an auto-sensing adapter (3rd party) which can auto adjust 100-240V, which some Ebay sellers from HK has to sell (but dunno whether will last as long the original or not). Yes mine still has the yellow sticker in tact. If u need a reference for this, u can ask me later or u can google urself This post has been edited by chronims: Jan 11 2009, 06:04 PM

I think, in the meantime I'll look for the adaptor in electronic shops. For the Mega Key reference, I'll PM you when I need the settings, ok bro? I appreciate all the help. Hope my MD still works. coz the metal part of the AV cable looks like in a bad shape.
