finally QUOTE Telcos fined RM50mil for short-changing consumers
KUALA LUMPUR: Telcos were fined a total of RM50mil last year for short-changing consumers and the Government will withdraw their licences if they fail to deliver services as promised.
Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said the licensees were fined for, among others, not providing even 50% of the reception or speed as promised to the consumer, failing to adhere to the business plan promised to the Government, quality of service that was below the set standards, breaching contracts, and not having adequate base stations and towers to fulfil service requirements.
“If they have promised in their business plan to provide a speed of 1Mbps, they should at least provide 70% (700Kbps), 90% of the time.
“I am waiting to take back the licences and give them to other companies that are serious about serving consumers, if telcos and digital service providers fail to perform as agreed in the terms of the conditions with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM),” Shaziman said after launching Packet 1 (PI) WiMAX services Tuesday.
He added that the “best efforts as currently adopted by broadband players now are unacceptable.”
Rolling out, he said, was more than just building a tower, launching new services or setting up WiFi spots.
“The Government is serious in ensuring that broadband Internet access will benefit the rakyat, especially in semi-urban and rural areas.”
Shaziman reiterated that failure to comply would be subjected to penalty, possibly in the form of withdrawal of the respective performance guarantee bonds of up to RM7.7mil pledged with SKMM.
“Since WiMAX is a new technology which requires quite a substantial investment, it would be prudent for industry players to share infrastructure to minimise financial burdens and wastage in duplication of investments.” Sauce: TheStar online

Well the previous menteri tenaga, Dato LKY also did comment the same thing. Nothing is change till his departure. Now this menteri wanna do the same thing.
Well i do applaud the talk but i'll be looking at the action... That no good TMNut monopoly will certainly put a stop at any action taken to them.

since it's already highlighted by the Pak Menteri and it's only recently, let's flood SKMM with complain towards TMnuts, and all other broadband providers (maxshit, u-more-bill, etc) who fail to deliver.

I can BET WITH MY OWN LIFE that if ISP from other countries like Comcast, BT, Road Runner blablabla.... Tm(yes i mean the WHOLE TM) will bankrupt. Cause in UK, BT offers 20Mbps connection for only €10.00 month.... thats ****ing cheap!! Road Runner ( this will make you faint) ' like USD$29.90 for 100Mbps Fibre Optic connection... Currency Conversion: €10.00=MYR62.0845 $29.90=MYR101.475 Unbelieveble? BELIVE IT...

If you get frequent disconnection, they say its client side(eg your side problem (modem, line, splitter)) wth, even changing new modem they say u got this that problem, not our side.. Even no DSL light, they say your modem got problem(but i can online several days later). TM BOLEH. hiring a bunch of EXPERT GUYS for support.

I wonder what will happen to most of our broadband users who are solely using broadband to download things illegally Sure TMNet is committing a daylight robbery but in Malaysia we don't have much of a choice. Lets just keep our fingers crossed for our new HSBB Project !

Lets just keep our fingers crossed for our new HSBB Project ! What happened in US at least is that after deregulation, EVERYONE laid fibre like crazy. As a result, there was an oversupply which lead to a huge crash in price and hence cheap bandwidth. Great for the consumer, not so great for the telcos that spent billions laying the fibre. Here no such thing with Telekom firmly in control.

Well, those Idiots in TM sure are a bunch of IDIOTS or illiterate and screwed their bosses daughters to get the job (or handjob their boss and bosses).
Nobody can make an person an Idiots unless they are born an Idiots. Idiots fools that ask you to do so many test, plugs, unplugs, firewall off, anti-viruses and even ask you to shutdown and wait 5 min to try.
I got one advise to all the people here, just keep complaining until we flood their damn lines.
I am planing to jolt down ever telephone conversation with their idiots and make a letter to say that my package of 1 MB p/mth for RM88 should be slash by 1/3 cuz the speed they gave me is only around 200++ MB . I think carbon copying the letter to the consumer rights office should make them jump a bit but I still doubt the CS will take action cuz idiots alike flock together.
My decision is to keep complaining and make their life a living hell .........
