Any1 (or know of any1) using Amax Wimax in Bandar Utama Phase 12 ?

Not sure of the speed there, as looking at the coverage map, it is just at the edge, so the signal tower could be very far away...

Any Amax resellers or employees reading this forum?

Feedback or comments please...

Added on July 22, 2009, 1:08 pmHello @DUOCORE - just saw your posting that Amax will soon cover Taman Mayang Jaya ?

When will this happpen?  Will this cover the rest of Bandar Utama Phase 12 as well?  Specifically Jalan BU 12/7.

Also, can someone please feedback - what are the terms & conditions for the RM60/month student package ?

Looking forward to your response...
*
i'm new reseller for Amax, I'll check Bandar Utama Phase 12 and get back to you~ another way is to get trial, if u're interested~ it can be arranged easily~

generally, one of the main strengths of Amax compared to other Wimax providers are the backhaul ownership, lower latency for same range + throughput when tested and the planned upcoming growth~ feel free to PM me for any specific inquiries in the future or post here~

hi sexualpower - good to know you are Amax reseller.

How to contact you? Any email or handphone number?

I am very interested to sign up for Amax, but need to very sure on coverage in Bandar Utama Phase 12. Also when will the coverage start for Taman Mayang Jaya, which will then definitely cover the rest of BU 12...

Also I want to be very sure on torrenting speeds, any P2P throttling, etc.

Looking forward to your reply. Thanks

Bandar Utama Phase 12 coverage I can demo for u, no problem. Taman Mayang Jaya I will confirm with u once I call my boss tomorrow during working hours.

Sexualpower, I'd like to ask you any idea when Taman Rakan will be covered under Amax coverage? It is very close to Bandar Makhota Cheras and Bandar Sungai Long.
*
Sungai Long will take a long time before Amax reaches there. The strategy of maximal penetration lies with covering the most densely populated place, Klang Valley.

QUOTE(wr6969 @ Jul 23 2009, 05:02 PM)
Can the resellers here tell me when Bukit Damansara will be covered?  Thanks.
*
Bukit Damansara is in the list of upcoming coverage, expect it to be ready in 2 months' time.

QUOTE(Raki @ Jul 23 2009, 05:29 PM)
i dont think so. i'm living in section 17

If there are no commercial buildings around, that means there is frequency inteference. Different frequency or spectrum will not face this problem but if u have people using Amax's frequency to transmit data, that is against the law as Amax's frequency is 2.3 and it is licensed. Whoever using walkie-talkie or any telecommunication device using this frequency will be illegal. Try finding out whether anyone is broadcasting this or not.

If the above possibility isn't the case, it may be because of new communication tower testing by other companies. Amax owns over 200 communication towers and rent them out to telcos but there are plenty more illegal towers around Malaysia which don't pay any licensing fee. The news these few months was mentioning about communication towers being brought down by City Council and Dr. M saying that everyone must start making communication tower look nice and don't fret, Amax towers are second most professional looking I've ever seen, I think u guys know who holds 1st place for pro looking towers~

================
feel free to inquire, I may not be very knowledgable but I try to help whenever I can, the questions I can't answer will be forwarded to technical department. Student package for Amax is RM60 and there is no throttling, no limit, no fair user policy and best of all, low congestion coz it's not many users right now

You sure about that? Because i saw Amax had covered part of the Bandar Makhota Cheras, And here is very close to Sungai Long and my taman. So you mean Amax is going to stop widening the coverage area here and build new tower on other location?
*
confirmed, I called the manager to inquire about Kajang side as I'm actually focused on Klang Valley~

the main plan is this... the faster the rate of subscribers, the faster their growth~ once customers pay, they use it as investments (I don't know how big a portion coz I'm not that high level in management) to build more towers~

Amax's strategy of expansion is unique compared to all other Wimax providers, Amax owns all their towers, thanks to Asiaspace

I'll not be surprised if Sungai Long has coverage if we suddenly get many subscribers this month~ bro, Sungai Long I'm very familiar, now new housing developed there has optional plantation and furniture right? I used to go Windmill to meet a friend of mine who stays there~ even wedding also I went there once, got a restaurant 2 floors popular for their package~

I'll keep u updated on Sungai Long

*
yes, exactly~ u see, whoever has the infrastructure during a good economy is King... but during downtime, whoever holds money, or in other words, whoever has cash is King~

the infrastructure is already in place, Amax just need to put up towers but the question is "will there be customers?"

So may i know what is Amax strategy? Are they going to expand coverage from Makhota or just stop there now?
BTW, how many KM can be covered by one Amax tower?
*
this is a good question~ very subjective too~ generally the ability to transmit depends on signal strength which relies on the transmitter type, the angle which is it delivers (can be 60% bi-directional or up to 360% omni-directional), and the interference which may happen (very small possibility as the spectrum used by Amax is licensed)

small issues~ i'm not a tele engineer so I am not knowledgeable in technical details~ don't think there is any other issue except for health~above the range of 5GHz and at close range of about 10cm for more than 30mins to a satellite dish will anyone be exposed to radiation~ Wimax is using 2.3Ghz~

the range from one end to another in TTDI is approximately 6.8km (can't use radius to calculate this as the area is not completely omnidirectional, proper areas have been selected)~ radius wise in Taman University, PJ it's about 1.6km radius~

source : Amax coverage <- click here

how about a comparison with P1? I can't be biased as I am a P1 reseller anyway~

P1 is agressive, now available in Alor Setar (Kedah), Penang, Kuala Terengganu (Terengganu), Ipoh (Perak), Kuantan (Pahang), Tampin (NS), JB (Johor), KL

the range from one end to another in Tampin where there is no overlapping is 4km~ radius in Seri Hartamas is about 0.8km~

source : P1 Coverage <- click here

the above numbers are based on single communication tower capability with the assumptions of my ruler being accurate, the websites posting accurate coverages, similar transmitters used of each provider~

Actually, my definition of night is around midnight ... sorry for the confusion.

But I do have a problem with my RF signal, my RSSI at my place is around 13-16 but mostly i get is 14... I actually know the problem is the little hill in front my room thats causing the interference. During the day, i can go around 50-100KB/s but mostly is at late nights that i can achieve 150KB/s on torrent. But the biggest headache i have with amax that everytime i visit a different website, amax changes my IP... this feels like amax is load balancing multiple WAN links. this is causing when ever i visit a new website, amax routes me to another link with a different IP than the previous IP that I used a few moments ago

I'm interested in signing up for the Amax WiMax RM60/month student package. I live in Section 17, PJ, and I've checked their website that my area is under coverage. I currently having some questions and hoping someone (reseller or experienced users) could answer them for me smile.gif

1) I've sent my registration at the website last Saturday, and they called my this morning and we've make an appointment at tomorrow morning for their technicians to come over my place to test the connection. How is the registration process goes? Do I need to pay for the installation fee (RM80)? Anyone can list out all the related fees as I can't find any proper information at the website?

2) I've seen some users claims that the USB modem could hardly receive the signal indoor. Is that true? Because I plan to use it mostly in my house.

3) A lot of users complain that the ip address keep on changing. Can anyone explain about this?

4) If I sign up for the 7-day trial and terminate it within the trial period, do I get FULL REFUND of what I've paid upon registration? Because I had just been conned by P1 reseller for it!

5) Anyone at my area (PJ Section 17) using Amax now? How's the overall performance? Any comments?

Thanks in advance and looking forward for somebody to answer my questions!
*
1) there is a better choice than going registering with technicians, they do charge more than resellers! customer is always right, you can say no and take the 7-days trial first to test

2) that is true for all wireless connections in Malaysia, u have to be in the range to receive signal

3) ip address keep changing for website viewing, Amax is aware of this for a while and they're coming up with new plans but no implementation yet

4) yes, FULL REFUND in 2 weeks~ everyone here can tell u the same old story of Maxis charging RM200 for 7 days trial back in Feb09 and P1 is doing it the same, giving back only half of the deposit when u return 7 days trial~

5) I can go over to your place for demo and even provide u student package 7 days trial, just pay RM60 and we'll refund the full RM60 if u return it within 7 days~ get a sister or a brother's IC and student card to register also can~

Thanks for the fast reply  rclxms.gif

As what you said in (1), you mean if I registering with technicians, they do charge me the RM80 installation fee? And if I request you come my place and do the demo, you do not charge for it? And only pay for the Rm60? I'm wondering how the registration process goes... So what you suggest me to do since I've already make the appointment that technician will come over my place to test. hmm.gif
*
appointment is nothing, customers are always right~ just make a call and cancel appointment, simple~ i come over to your place ready with 7days trial for u, demo for u, do ping test, speedtest, whatever test~ up to your liking~

at the end of the day, whether Amax is suitable or not, I will still provide free consultation based on my experience with Streamyx, Celcom, P1, SentralFon~ it's not only 1 choice~

hey dude...!! please do not give wrong info la....all technican from amax didnt charge anything upon customer register, only pay 1 month upfront ma....!!! from last week, i always monitor all statement u post in this topic.  i know u desparate to get sale, u are new reseller right? i saw ur register form yesterday. One thing u should know bout 7 days cooling of period, customer must subscribe 1st and they will get 7 working days to try. If customers didnt satisfied with our service within 7 working day, customer can terminate and we will refund back in full amount after 14 working days.

Dude, please notice this :

amax Wimax give 7 days cooling of period NOT 7 days free trial.

sorry, my mistake~ i read back what the customer mentioned and I found that i interpret it wrongly~ it was a question rather than a statement, apparently~

all technician from Amax don't charge anything upon customer registration, only pay 1 month up front

I'm desperate for women, sex, girls, money, fame, fortune but not to the extend of giving a wrong statement~ u assumed or interpreted 2 things wrongly~ i didn't mention anything wrong about trial and there I'm not giving wrong statement because of desperation, just an oversight~ 7 days free trial wasn't mentioned in relation to cooling off period as there payment was mentioned~ anyway, no one asked on "cooling period" without any payment~

no intention to get an apology or anything of that sort, just want things clear~ thanks for your comments, most important is to get right info to clients

offtopic : hi boon, received your PM and got a call from your friend, thanks

Open any browser, type 192.168.1.1 in the url field, then enter admin & admin for Id & password respectively. Then mouse over Wimax Tab and you'll see 3 options - IP Address, Setting & Status. Click on Status to get to the Wimax Status.

Note - the above applies to the Multi-user CPE. I am not sure about the USB modem as I have not use it before.

It happens to my AMAX connection quite often too. I've been using the service for about 2 months. Not much problem in the first month. But early this month since the backbone breakdown, I started experiencing problems with the Guild Wars(a MMORPG game which servers are in US or Europe). I keep getting disconnected from the in-game chat server(every 2-5 minutes) while still being connected to the game server. I can still play the game but communication between friends in-game is cut-off. My status will be seen as offline to them. I went to AMAX TTDI last Saturday to point out the problem and even presented some Pingplotter test results that showed severe packet loss but I have not received any reply from them. I suspect there is a problem with the secondary DNS(203.121.16.85) that is run by Time Dot Com as I sometimes get packet loss when I ping the DNS. I wonder if we can use OpenDNS with AMAX service.

Anyway which area are you in?
*
thanks so much for your help on the Amax thread, the friends you've intro to me and I learn a lot from u too~ happy.gif if u ever have lubang for hardwares like desktops, laptops, servers, RFID, barcode printer and scanners, do tell me, I'll support happy.gif

AMAX missing out on the pc fair again? What's up with that?

Btw, what's your comment on this:

Three WiMAX firms warned
*
it's simple really~ look at P1, they are out of cash and has dumped everything into the business and is out of cash so much so they need what the stock market calls "cash call", rights issue is additional call for more cash from stocks, which is a much better way to get cash as compared to going to a bank for a loan~ kindly refer to
->> Green Packet: Looking to turnaround in 2010
->> Green Packet to raise RM100mln via rights issue for expansion

Amax has its own plans and is wisely keeping cash flow running~ u can purchase a bi-annual financial report through the government

what about YTLe then? they mentioned spending 2.5b for Wimax but no news since then~

Redtone only has license for east coast though~

by the way, share market is one of my self-employed part-time~ advice.. time to sell, bubble burst estimated at 1,190 - 1,200

that depends on how much support we get~ YTLe has 2.5b located for it's Wimax but it hasn't rolled out commercially yet~ Amax has similar allocated funds and has its own strategy and proving good service, unlike expensive services with Fair User Policy and small omnidirectional coverage which has much lower efficiency to cover residential areas as their base tower cannot be placed too near to homes~ bi-directional and multi-transmitter strategy as used by Amax is seen by me as a winning strategy~ it's more efficient and that is one of many reasons why Amax is able to allow Unlimited Usage~ once our sales figures increase, we may be all in a shock at how fast Amax will roll out it's coverage

let me leak out some info~ we are only using merely 10% of the capabilities of the infrastructure available~ there is more to come~

for now, I'm happy as I don't get to rest on Sat and Sun coming to forum coz I'm outside attending to Amax customers on weekends~ would u like a test at your place? free of charge, this is what I offer~

No offense bro, but your answer had a very big difference with what i saw on Amax website. Until now, Amax still claimed that they can cover entire Klang Valley by 2009, i also received email regarding the coverage issue saying that my area is in their schedule of expansion(Taman Rakan close to SG.Long)
But from your reply, it seems that u don't have confidence for that?

what company thinks is my opinion and speculation from what I see and think~ once something is confirmed, it will be already in the newspapers~ what u read in news is also words chosen to be written by the reporter~ what u hear from someone else is thought out by someone or passed from one person to another~

if Amax chooses to cover the entire Klang Valley by end of this year, I'd say it's superb news~ I didn't say that it isn't possible, I just mentioned that the more supporters, the faster the expansion~ which company doesn't want to expand?

Amax is the rare kind of wireless internet that provides student package RM60 Unlimited access~ no need to pay for modem~

let the people be the judge of whether Amax should be supported or not~ as for me, I'm definitely seeing a bright future and a good support, one of the reason being the good packages provided~
Even Amax's very own 'hometown', TTDI is not fully covered, according to their website.
Oh and I find it strange that TTDI Hills is barely covered since Dato Ghani of Amax lives here.

I wanted to subscribe to Amax a few months back. Went to their TTDI hotspot, was told they will send someone over to check the coverage. I specifically told the guy to call me first before coming. He said okay. Without calling me, their technician came to my house when I was at work. According to my surprised (since he came from out of the blue) family members he did the test in front of the house and in my room.

And that was that. I was thinking of getting a follow-up call or something like that. It's either there's really no coverage or someone's just slacking off.

don't let one bad fruit bring bad name to the whole farm~ allow me to tell u that no ISP is perfect~ take a look at how many threads are up complaining about Streamyx, P1, Celcom, Maxis~ u choose the best one that suits u~ that is my advise~

it depends on how far are u to the Amax tower but being wired, Streamyx don't need to take into account any distance~ P1 definitely higher latency when the distance is the same, because of how they place their base stations~

i'm thinking of taking this broadband, but what worry me is the increase of number of users in the future. Like previously the Izzi net, during launching that time the speed was pretty fast (due to lesser user). After that when many ppl start to subscribe the speed slow like hell. sad.gif
*
well, everyday is a new day~ nothing stays the same forever~

but then again, it's only a speculation of yours that Amax is same as Izzi~ by now, look at the map and see how many areas are covered~ know that there are more than 200 communication towers owned by Asiaspace (Amax's mother company) and these are facts~

I'm on a neutral stand-point since I'm a reseller of many internet (except Izzi, lol)~

The map you see at Amax's website is very accurate indeed as I've tested it myself just at the border of Salak South, Sri Petaling and Bukit Jalil~ it is amazing how Amax isn't using any dirty tricks like lousy signal or not fully refunding deposit for 7 days trial~ so far no problem~

I think u guys should know, I won't hold back when I criticize, when there are anything bad about any ISP, u'll hear it from me~
