QUOTE(firahz @ Oct 20 2009, 01:30 AM) Hye.. good suggestion, I agree on you on this one though, I'll channel this suggestion to the management~I've been used amax for more 3months and till now I've no problem with it. The internet connection is very stable compares to others broadband which is d/load average is about 100-140KB/sec (I'm a student package 1mbps). I'm doing a wireless connection sharing among peoples in my house (using ICS setting). I'm also always play online game at g-arena and guess what, there is no lag/problem happen. I'm very satisfied with the services but only ONE I don't like about this ISP, the bill quite hard to pay because everything is done manually from deposit money into amax's account until the proof of payment must be sent to amax. I hope amax will manage this kind of problem quickly. that's my 10cents about amax =) QUOTE(cyanboy @ Oct 20 2009, 01:47 AM) Hi. 1) Amax owns over 200 towers of their own that transmits data bi-directionally instead of omnidirectionally, thus giving further distance for Amax's signal to travel further from the base station~ try to have a look at the coverage map and u may realize that Amax concentrates on industrial and residential areas much further in distance while P1 has very short range for 1 particular communication tower~I'm interested for the RM 68 plan for 1MB/ps. However, I had heard numerous complaints about P1 lately. 1. So how different is Amax from P1? Does both of them having same coverage/sharing same transceiver? 2. How about coverage for Bukit Mayang Emas/Aman Suria/Tropicana? How's the signal strength and distance from tower? 3. My computer is located at the back of my house, meaning it faces another house, this is = blockage? I'm using a USB modem for this package, so now the modem is away from window, inside the house under my computer table... Too much blockage? 4. I understand that P1 uses a modem shaped like a box, but this USB modem seemed a lot more compact, so is the receiver smaller? Or i really had to connect an extension of USB cable to somewhere beside the window to get better reception? I really look forward for Amax but was hold back when i heard my friend had made numerous complaints about P1... hope you can help... Sorry for overloading ques. 2) u'll be approximately 300m from the nearest base station~ 3) Wiggy is a failure of P1 and the reason is partly because of capping of speed~ Amax doesn't have any form of capping, Amax offers unlimited usage, no fair user policy, no quota and no congestion due to having 927 users as of 4th of August as stated in an article in TheStar newspaper~ having an extention cable to the window always helps as ALL wireless technologies are meant for outdoor usage and being blocked by bricks, metal and water will reduce its signal strength~ commercialized USB extention comes in 5m, 10m, 30m, 50m |

QUOTE(duder @ Oct 23 2009, 11:01 AM) I have just subscribe to AMAX. My area is Taman Miharja, Cheras. The surfing is experience is okay except when streaming video. The video is loaded very slowly. Anyone facing this problem? Last night, I went to Cheras Suria Jaya and Miharja/Maluri, no problem at all but the Sri Petaling, Sunway and Maluri/Miharja area. I will call Amax now to lodge a Dealer report. The management may have missed the e-mail not have time to read the e-mail I sent yesterday and Miharja wasn't reported yesterday through e-mail as well. Thank you for your feedback. Appreciate itQUOTE(slackinux @ Oct 23 2009, 11:05 AM) sexualpower, I tested last night at Sri Petaling, still very low speed. Speedtest isn't what I use to test. I use direct download to Norton, Nvidia and rapidshare downloads because these are real applications. There is a problem for sure as the bandwidth is lower than normal by a lot~i tested download speed at 12.00 midnight last night, surprisingly i get 1.49mbps which is max and 1.47mbps which is min. Strange to say that it has recovered to the previous speed. kanethesun, how about your download speed? Has it recovered to the previous speed? Fyi, i am staying at Sri Petaling terrace house opposite TheStore hypermarket. Subscribe to the 1.5mbps package. I will inform everyone here once there is any news from Amax |

QUOTE(gigants @ Oct 24 2009, 12:33 AM) Hi, would like to know if there is coverage at these locations? - Taman Desa (covered)- Taman Desa - Bandar Sri Damansara - KL Thanks! - Bandar Sri Damansara (not covered) - KL (need specific location, but KL Sentral area isn't covered) I've called 2 officials of Amax, one of them wants a proof of the problem and I've asked my technicians to retest them at different locations in Cheras with applications and screenshots of torrent speeds just to guide the Amax technicians to do final testing~ I will announce any results of their Amax technician tests as soon as they are done~ I'm outstation and will be back in KL on Sunday night~ my partner, Leong, from Chinese Cari, will be helping me to communicate between BIC's technicians and Amax's management/technicians (based on how far or how fast they look at this problem) on this problem~ This post has been edited by sexualpower: Oct 24 2009, 01:31 AM |

QUOTE(eizade @ Oct 24 2009, 02:09 AM) Hi everyone, thanks for the feedback~ the Cheras area at Maluri is very terrible compared to your place and it was the same night~ Feel free to try placing the modem at different locations~ reaching 20 is already excellent signal reception~ I would recommend trying to turn the modem and when your kak is around, then maybe request her to help with with higher elevation~ feel free to contact me through PM, e-mail or handphone if there is any issues~Just get trial period from this fella and to be honest - nice guy with nice service. Thanx Gary and sorry late remarks BTW after few days been using it, AMAX service @ taman desa much better than @#$% celcom. Surf ok, dw fine, streaming video good. Somehow due to my room location, service varies from CINR:(13,13) to CINR:(15,15). Tested around d house and d best location can get up to CINR:(19,19) - yet to test @ high level. Satisfaction B+++ (well A for full+constants speed - nway prob my room location n so on). Surely recommended |

QUOTE(darenlks @ Oct 24 2009, 01:07 PM) I've tested it again just now and it seems it the dl speed is back to its normal level but I noticed that my ping latency looks a bit high (consistently above 100ms), why is it so and any idea how to get it below 100ms ? latency depends a lot on how many 'hops' or 'routes' taken how many number of servers in order to reach your data's destination~ we have our own subsea cable that communicates through Taiwan to the rest of the world and when it fails, we route limited data through Singapore and Hong Kong~![]() ![]() ![]() latency can be higher if there are congestion at these international channels or congestion at any of the servers doing the routing or any damage on your LAN cable or the communication tower is congested~ it can also be in the form of lower signal, hence, lower link quality or the data server being restricted in the amount of bandwidth that they have, especially on weekends, so that they don't crash easily (or through DDOS attacks)~ to improve latency, the best and easiest way is to improve the signal strength~ try putting your modem near to your window, but encase it with thin plastic to avoid rain~ QUOTE(suying @ Oct 24 2009, 02:46 PM) I am hoping that Amax will be covering Ampang Mewah soon. Could you please help to forward my interest? Thank you very much. it's possible but I would not be suitable to help you forward interest in your area due to many requests that I receive and the management would be the one to contact as they are the ones who determine the next coverage area~ the management of Amax should have their own survey and market research on densely populated areas, new housing areas, possible corporate users, etc. in my opinion~my communications with the management would be 'problems faced' as I believe it is the utmost importance to let them know which area is problematic and what users want to improve~ try to contact Amax at amaxinfo@asiaspace.com.my 03 - 7726 2629 |

QUOTE(slackinux @ Oct 25 2009, 01:17 PM) I tested many places in my house and i found out that i get the best signal strength at my room's window. Of course, if i place the CPE outside my house, which is the balcony without roof facing the Sri Petaling dam get the maximum strength, ie. CINR(22,22) or CINR(23,23). thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom~ very accurate information indeed~If you are using usb modem, the only way to get good signal is sit nearer to the windows. If you are using CPE, try to place it nearer to the windows. As i mentioned b4, face it to the base station direction will get the strongest signal strength. When i first subscribed to Amax in October, 2008, i am one of the early subscriber at Sri Petaling area. The only place that have strongest signal strength is my room which is facing the base station at Sri Petaling dam. Nowaday, i think Amax has installed more base station and whole Sri Petaling area is covered, no matter front or back of your house. So, i guess as long as it is nearer the window will get good signal strength. Am i right, sexualpower? Determine the best signal strength place in your house and connect the wireless router to the CPE so that you can surf net or download at any location in your house. |
