no coverage, too far from coverage area~ I will take down your name for future expansion of Amax's coverage and will automatically inform you~

good suggestion, I agree on you on this one though, I'll channel this suggestion to the management~

1) Amax owns over 200 towers of their own that transmits data bi-directionally instead of omnidirectionally, thus giving further distance for Amax's signal to travel further from the base station~ try to have a look at the coverage map and u may realize that Amax concentrates on industrial and residential areas much further in distance while P1 has very short range for 1 particular communication tower~
2) u'll be approximately 300m from the nearest base station~
3) Wiggy is a failure of P1 and the reason is partly because of capping of speed~ Amax doesn't have any form of capping, Amax offers unlimited usage, no fair user policy, no quota and no congestion due to having 927 users as of 4th of August as stated in an article in TheStar newspaper~ having an extention cable to the window always helps as ALL wireless technologies are meant for outdoor usage and being blocked by bricks, metal and water will reduce its signal strength~ commercialized USB extention comes in 5m, 10m, 30m, 50m

kane, i'm in sri petaling too, but we're under different channel (that channel #1, #2, #3), so far no problem~ can you check for any water rentention items in your place? for example, fish tank or wet clothes near the balcony?

I was having problems yesterday morning in Sri Petaling but no problem when I reached office~ the slowdown in the speed could've only been Sri Petaling area~ do inform me if you have further problems so that I can raise it to the Amax management~

there is a coverage there but AEON is out of that particular coverage area~

I've sent an e-mail to one of the managers of Amax regarding the low bandwidth, I felt it yesterday morning but was out the whole day yesterday. I will reply here if there is any progress~

Bandar Sunway and Sri Petaling confirmed having problems and I've personally tested Sri Petaling's connection since yesterday morning and is still problematic~ Cheras Bt 9 near Maluri could have similar problem as well from what was tested after 9pm tonight~

strangely, there isn't any problem at Bukit Jalil areas from my tests~

I've sent an e-mail to one of the Amax managers after 5pm today and will post here if there are any feedback on the situation~ I will outstation tomorrow in Malacca and will check e-mail after 9pm and post here if there is any reply from Amax~

Last night, I went to Cheras Suria Jaya and Miharja/Maluri, no problem at all but the Sri Petaling, Sunway and Maluri/Miharja area. I will call Amax now to lodge a Dealer report. The management may have missed the e-mail not have time to read the e-mail I sent yesterday and Miharja wasn't reported yesterday through e-mail as well. Thank you for your feedback. Appreciate it

I tested last night at Sri Petaling, still very low speed. Speedtest isn't what I use to test. I use direct download to Norton, Nvidia and rapidshare downloads because these are real applications. There is a problem for sure as the bandwidth is lower than normal by a lot~

I will inform everyone here once there is any news from Amax

- Taman Desa (covered)
- Bandar Sri Damansara (not covered)
- KL (need specific location, but KL Sentral area isn't covered)


I've called 2 officials of Amax, one of them wants a proof of the problem and I've asked my technicians to retest them at different locations in Cheras with applications and screenshots of torrent speeds just to guide the Amax technicians to do final testing~ I will announce any results of their Amax technician tests as soon as they are done~

I'm outstation and will be back in KL on Sunday night~ my partner, Leong, from Chinese Cari, will be helping me to communicate between BIC's technicians and Amax's management/technicians (based on how far or how fast they look at this problem) on this problem~

thanks for the feedback~ the Cheras area at Maluri is very terrible compared to your place and it was the same night~ Feel free to try placing the modem at different locations~ reaching 20 is already excellent signal reception~ I would recommend trying to turn the modem and when your kak is around, then maybe request her to help with with higher elevation~ feel free to contact me through PM, e-mail or handphone if there is any issues~

latency depends a lot on how many 'hops' or 'routes' taken how many number of servers in order to reach your data's destination~ we have our own subsea cable that communicates through Taiwan to the rest of the world and when it fails, we route limited data through Singapore and Hong Kong~

latency can be higher if there are congestion at these international channels or congestion at any of the servers doing the routing or any damage on your LAN cable or the communication tower is congested~ it can also be in the form of lower signal, hence, lower link quality or the data server being restricted in the amount of bandwidth that they have, especially on weekends, so that they don't crash easily (or through DDOS attacks)~

to improve latency, the best and easiest way is to improve the signal strength~ try putting your modem near to your window, but encase it with thin plastic to avoid rain~

it's possible but I would not be suitable to help you forward interest in your area due to many requests that I receive and the management would be the one to contact as they are the ones who determine the next coverage area~ the management of Amax should have their own survey and market research on densely populated areas, new housing areas, possible corporate users, etc. in my opinion~

my communications with the management would be 'problems faced' as I believe it is the utmost importance to let them know which area is problematic and what users want to improve~

Sri Petaling and Cheras are having low bandwidth problem~ do note that a complain has reached the marketing and sales manager yesterday afternoon~ slaki, we know u're having good connections~ please be tolerant by not spamming this thread with speedtests that are nothing special~

johnathan, thanks for your feedback, youtube and other real applications tell the real story, there may be some problem in the whole KL instead of just Cheras and Sri Petaling~ I will be going to Klang and PJ areas to meet clients later in the afternoon once I'm back in KL, I will test and report back here~

bandar kinrara I tested last week at a colleague's house, simply excellent~ simply because the base station is up about 2 weeks~ 2 weeks old, low congestion

Amax technicians work on Sat & Sun too~ maybe the problem is fixed~ if anyone else have their bandwidth back to normal, please report in~ thank you~
