^That is right.

There are some PSN games however aren't share-able, do take note of that.

i planning to update my ps3 firmware using usb, which website can u download it from? my ps3 is japan NTSC. i read somewhere that u cant simply update your ps3 with different region firmware, it might brick the ps3.. Heelllpppp!
*
Firmware released by Sony since 2.0 has all been the exact same file on any of the servers. Before that however, they always had a different md5 hash.

While it is relatively safe to assume that all firmwares from now on will be the exact same no matter on what server, just do double check the md5 hash incase of any changes. This is Sony we are talking about after all..... rolleyes.gif

back to the question about ps3 playing ps2 ori games.. does malaysian console is able to play ps2 ori disc? Kinda miss Final Fantasy X..
*
Cannot, because the MY 80GB PS3 is a revision of the CECHK06 model. Which means it is none-other than the regular ol' 40GB PS3 but with a larger HDD capacity of 80GB only. You cannot play PS2 games be it original, same region, or *ahem*. You can of course still play PS1 games however, only in NTSC-J region though.

BTW, just to let you guys know that the latest batches of 80GB PS3 Malaysian models are all using a more efficient cooling fan. Just a note.

Mythbusters time!  flex.gif

If playing Blu-ray movies in PS3, will it degrade the len's life faster? Should I just play the games only?

Myth or fact?  whistling.gif

Myth.... at the moment atleast.

I have a friend who uses his PS3 solely for watching Blu-Rays only, its a 20GB launch-model even. Not a single problem thus far yet.

Anyone dare enough to strip a Velociraptor WD HDD without its HS into the PS3? That'll be hot for sure.

Make sure your NAT is Type 1 or 2 first.
Then make sure the wireless range of your PS3 and router/modem is not less than 50%.

Finally.... pray to god that screamyx don't screw you up when you want to connect.

Err, guys, has anyone else encountered that their PS3 game screen just goes very darkish after a while. It goes darkish then bright then darkish : / I was playing Uncharted and was fighting off some zombies and then that happened - the game was impossible to play after that. ADD: The screen becomes darker than normal when entering dark sequences in games but when it's bright, it's okay : /

Help anyone?

Doubt it's the lens problem since the menu itself is dark. I've tried tugging at the HDMI cable, pressing the On button to reset video settings but still same problem. Only happened since I updated my firmware.  sad.gif
*
Already answered your PM regarding that.

Anyways, for those having the same problem I might as well just tell you guys as well. The 2.53 firmware udpate automatically enables True Color(or RGB Full Range in the PS3's XMB) and Super White if your PS3 is hooked up via a HDMI cable. So for those who all this while is using a HDMI cable but did not enable True Color and Super White should probably notice that your images look darker and in bright scenes the white levels are much brighter.

Its not a problem with your console, so fret not. You can just disable them if you do not like it under your Display settings.

so, it doesn't matter what set I get...as long as the game is in same region, I can play multiplayer and all?

Not really.

Some games are multiplayer-region locked.

I disagree.

GTAIV would have been the best game ever made for the pass decade if it had everything from San Andreas(gameplay wise that is).

Too much has been taken out and it feels empty. Oh and I hate Liberty City... how many times have we seen that stupid city already?

BENQ 2400HD good?
when did it released?
*
Last month.

Price is only at RM1.1k to 1.2k.
Way below your budget.

Or you can even opt for the smaller E2200HD(21.5"), only RM600 now.

QUOTE(rhys86 @ Dec 27 2008, 09:36 AM)
thanks for the info and advice... means i shud get the 80gb Msia Version..?
Whats the difference between asian set, singapore set and malaysia set?
can anyone more give me more advice and info on this.. thanks =)??

i would like to ask some questions....

1. Does the PS3 80GB able to play PS2 games and all region PS3 games??

2. Is it more worth to buy a second Ps3 60GB version or get a new PS3 80GB version or even 2nd hand 80GB version.. is it wise to buy second consoles..??

3. I have a Samsung T220 widescreen LCD.. and i able to get HDMI display from the ps3 if i use the DVI to HDMI cable??

coz as i know.. ps3 60gb is the best version among all Ps3...
coz of the EE and GS i think rite? and its able to play Ps2 games too
*
No differences really, Asian/SG/MY PS3s all come from Sony HK anyways sweat.gif

1. No. Sony removed PS2 BC since the 40GB SKU, the new core-80GB SKUs are really pretty much the same as the 40GB SKU with a larger HDD.

2. If you can still find a 60GB PS3 in good condition and for the fact that its going to cost alot, then you may want to go for it. Same goes to a second-hand 80GB.

3. Yes, without problems what so ever.

The PS3 60GB may be the "best" in its features. But technical wise, it isn't.
Its not that simple too for playing PS2 games. Since PS2 games are region-locked, you will need to get the correct system to play your PS2 games and of course they must be original legit copies as well.

Its pretty darn rare to find a US 60GB PS3 for second hand now and selling with a reasonable price point.
Your best bet would be to find the MGS4 80GB Bundle which are still lurking around somewhere in Malaysia if you find hard enough.

oh ya.. one more question is...

between a new 40GB PS3 and a new 80GB... which one shud i choose..

is it better to get the 40GB den buy another harddisk to upgrade..
or juz get the 80GB ps3...
*
You can get a 40GB PS3 SG model right now for under RM1300 if you look hard enough. Throw in a 320GB HDD will only cost you another RM200. All in all, an average of RM1500, about the same price of a brand new 80GB PS3.

What you don't get is of course no Dualshock 3 and no Malaysia official warranty though.

I'd still suggest you go for the 80GB MY set, as you will have a DS3. And only if you see the need of a HDD upgrade later on you can hop onto a bigger HDD.

if not mistaken..when you download...your graphic core not running..hence not much heat..only ur hdd is running...so i guess is safe..

more safer if in air-con room...

so no problem at all to overnight

To say its not running, thats wrong.

Everything is running as long as your PS3 is on, its just that certain parts of the hardware is idling.

99% of Logitech products work with the PS3 belief it or not.

Even some of their ancient driving wheels which uses the PS/2 port works as long as you get a PS/2 > USB converter.

Mornin guys,
last night my ps3 gone weird when shutting down.. it takes longer then usual and gives the 'beep beep beep' sound just before shut down.

about the triple 'beep', what does it means?

smile.gif
*
3 beeps consecutively means your display settings has been set back to default settings

OR

Your PS3 is currently still doing something in the background(be it closing the Internet browser, quitting a game completely since some game leaves info on its cache, signing out from PSN and so on).

PSN Video store only available to US residents, you need a US IP and a US credit card to buy it.

Infact you can't even access the PSN video store(atleast not by refreshing those ads until you get a movie ad).
