Getting Started

|
Well, even taking into account the DX11 patch, not everyone will be able to crank the game up to maximum. All the while I've been able to get a near rock solid 60fps and above with maximum settings at 1280x720 with 3D enabled, EXCEPT during the Joker fight. In that scenario, the problem wasn't even related to DX11, but PhysX! Everytime the glass/debris falls, the number of physics objects is just too much to handle on my machine. On top of advanced particles, ragdoll animation, cloth simulation, my PC still had to handle DX11 and drawing the game twice (because of 3D). The result? FPS in the single digits, where the game becomes near damn unplayable for me. After that part, everything's ok again. Also, the game is reaaaaaally eating up all my gaming time. Since I don't have the luxury of spending too much time playing games these days, I play nothing else but Batman AC. I'm committed to 100 percent the game! If anyone sees me online these days, they'll notice I'm always on this game. I'll try to get in some SSF4 once the 2012 patch comes.

Batman: Arkham City shipped 6 million in 2011 QUOTE Tucked away in the dark, crowded bowels of Time Warner's financial results statement for fiscal 2011 is news that Rocksteady's blockbuster, bat-centric beat-em-up (that would be Batman: Arkham City) has shipped 6 million units, as of December 31, 2011. Now, "shipped" is a much different statistic than "sold," but it's a strong figure nonetheless.
It's difficult to tell how Warner Bros. Interactive did on its own in 2011, since its financial results are lumped in with two other Time Warner subsidiaries, (Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Television), both of which brought in astounding amounts of money with their respective Harry Potter and Big Bang Theory licenses. Overall, Time Warner's "Filmed Entertainment" (tv, movies and gaming) reported revenues of $12.6 billion; a 9 percent year-over-year increase.
The statement also mentions Mortal Kombat and "several LEGO titles" as key contributors to the division's successful year. Source: Joystiq

I dont mind if I can't get constant 60FPS for this game with maximum possible setting DX11.
But what's with the FPS drop? Heck it's even 20-30ish. Ridiculous.
I have the DX11 patch fix.

Batman: Arkham City Dev: UK is Experiencing 'A Real Talent Drain'QUOTE Some may not know this, but Batman: Arkham City developer Rocksteady Studios is based in North London. As such, the studio has had a first-hand look at the death of other UK-based studios, including Bizarre Creations and Black Rock Studios. Arkham City game director Sefton Hill recently told CVG that conditions in the region have lead to talent finding other places to strut their stuff.
“A lot of my friends have moved abroad to get work; there's a real talent drain. Montreal is a central place for development and it's mainly because the tax breaks they give are so phenomenal. It's a real shame, because home computers were so popular and the bedroom programming scene was so big we have some of the best talent in the world in this country. That situation is rapidly changing and it's such a shame,” said Hill.
A number of lead studios have opened in Canada in the past few years, including THQ Montreal, WB Games Montreal, and Gameloft Toronto.
“We have great developers here but those numbers are dwindling. You just think about quality developers like Bizarre Creations, Black Rock - people who are making really good games and going out of business. Those guys were so talented so how can that happen? I just think that we could have been in Montreal's position with that backing from the government. It's such a big industry now and we could be world leaders,” Hill added. Source: Industry Gamers

Rocksteady's Sefton Hill shares Arkham recipe QUOTE Rocksteady Studios co-founder and game director Sefton Hill shared his recipe for making Arkham games at DICE 2012. Beyond the basic ingredients listed, all you'll need is a major license, a supportive publisher and millions to fund the project.
Sefton's Arkham recipe:
Make the game instantly fun and accessible. "We believe it's our job to entertain," Hill said, adding that the free-flow combat of Arkham was meant to instantly convey the feeling of being Batman. Deep core mechanics, with a contant, incremental challenge to maintain engagement. "We developed combat by introducing new enemy types ... it keeps giving you more, it keeps challenging you." Complementary Orthogonal Design. Boiled down, it's that systems like navigation, combat and story "all have their own distinct and strong uses." Essentially, he encouraged designing complementary design elements that don't step on each other. Authenticity. "The restraints of the character define the character." Hill said certain elements may seem like a pain the ass, but that one must embrace those constraints. The fact that Batman can't kill anyone was something the team had to maintain at all times. "It stops us from falling back on a lot of game cliches." Takeway: Celebrate and explore the limitations of characters and what makes them unique.
So, there you go. Oh, you'll also need an engine. We're sure if you write a really nice letter to the guys at Epic, they'll let you license the Unreal Engine at a good price. Source: Joystiq

They should release another patch. The DX11 patch is still bugged. What worst it spoiled the DX9 mode.
The game is all stuttering with frame rate drop.
