QUOTE(RyoKenzaki @ Feb 11 2009, 11:02 AM) Source: http://72.14.235.132/search?q=cache:1Gvroz...clnk&cd=7&gl=my hi ryo,Looks like its a bad news for the lil one as quoted in the link u gaven.. // Appendage Regeneration In Arachnids Many species of Opiliones (harvestmen, one of 38 families [Phalangiidae] is calleddaddylonglegs) are known to practice autotomy (the ability to voluntarily toss off their legs). However, there are no reports I’m aware of that they also have the ability to regenerate the lost legs. In scorpions, compete regeneration of appendages is either rare or non-existent. They havebeen known to regenerate parts of legs, but in a non-methodical way. For example, if animmature scorpion lost all of a leg past the femur, it won’t regenerate the complete leg, but it may regenerate a leg segment, such as the tarsus at the site where the leg was lost. As for the other arachnid orders, information just isn’t available. From the limited sources Ihave, it’s unlikely regeneration occurs in the remaining orders such as whipscorpions, tailless whipscorpions, pseudoscorpions and the rest. Regeneration may occur in mites and ticks (Acari), but I have no sources that can confirm or deny this. I wish they’d place the Acari in a class byitself outside of the arachnids, so I’d only rarely have to mention them again. For, as we all know, NOBODY in their right mind likes mites and ticks. Anybody that may think the statement above is a little like the pot calling the kettle black, certainly won’t be reading this. // hmm seems like the little fellow going to be crippled for life ? |

hi guys..
i managed to get some pics of the deformed legs... wonder what have went wrong during the process of the molting.. any idea guys ??? as u can see .. the little legs seems lifeless and unable to move ![]() the two hands are still ok ....... could it be the effect of molting upside down ??? side view of it .... clearer pic of the deformed legs .. part of its tails still have remains of the old exo .s...... i dun think it have a complete molting.. ![]() the other side view of the deformed legs ... now it move aorund like a worm ... using it two front hands and the wiggle the boby ... lost it ability to hunt and defence, run of hides .... ![]() any advises or pre caution to do or note when the scorplings are under going molting ???? cheers Added on wonderwomanstill wondering .. could it be the effect of the lack of nuterients or lack of calcium in the diet of staple food like mealsworms and crickets ??? up for discussion.........
actually i was wondering ........... which is better?? a) a big enclourse or b) a smaller enclourse a big enclourse pros and cons pro : 1) larger space for the scorpions to move freely 2) reduce the stress of each scropion and prevent them of fighting and eating each other cons : 1) maintaining of humility in the tank 2) scorpion catching of prey .. too many space for the food to run away .. scorpion may have problem catching them 3) maintainece issue ??? 4) take up too much space in the house ................ say got a few sp in the collection.......... prons and cons for a small tank via vias of the above ...... ??? sorry lazy to type ........... wat u guys think.... pefer a big tank or small enclourse ???? cheers |

QUOTE(RyoKenzaki @ Feb 13 2009, 10:41 AM) I like enclosure that is smaller, except for display tank i have the same feeling like your too .. Easier2 maintain, locating scorpling, locating leftover, save space From my experience in using big tank for my scorpling, i found that they often cant locate the prey eventhough i gave em a dead crix or mealworm After i changed them back to small delicup they devour every food i threw in The decision is up to u though well it up personal likeness ... there are no right or wrong dun mean to offence anyone ... cheers |
