I'm an iPhone Edge user. Somehow i am always worried that one day i will drop my phone on the ground or something despite being very careful. Anybody dropped theirs before? Any problems after dropping ?

How would this be any different from the Nokias and Sony Ericssons? A drop is a drop, and whenever that happens, it depends on how high it drops from, and if it is protected. I reckon that cases would absorb and distribute the shockwave around the case more than silicone cases, therefore providing more protective properties. But it makes no different if it is dropped from several storeys up or if the case protecting it shatters to pieces and pieces the body of the iPhone.
A drop is a drop. The only worry I would care about is avoiding it, or the kind of protection it has when that unfortunate incident happens. If you cant avoid being a clumsy klutz, then the general rule is not to buy expensive phones, but rather buy those that can take a few beatings of its own.

you are right in about the height thing string.. but i have heard that pda's shock resist isn't as great.. i mean i was using nokia before the iphone and i've dropped it many many times.. lets say from 1 meter height onto solid ground.. and it didn't spoil or anything.. i was wondering if the same applies to the iphone
Added on August 10, 2008, 8:39 pmto jakesean : thanks for the link but somehow the video doesn't load on my computer. I looked it up youtube instead.. thanks =)

i've dropped my iPhone several times on its face without leaving scratch on the glass front. dropped several parts on the side and the metal body got scratched (as expected). but everything still ok.
but then, someone else dropped my iPhone and the glass front directly hit a bluetooth charging plug, to near the headset part of the iPhone. then the glass front cracked a bit.
mmm...looks like that's the weak spot for the front part. but for normal drop on flat surface it should still be ok (although i can't assure anything).
mmm...don't abuse your iPhone k. u don't buy it (or someone bought it for u) for a high price just to drop it rite? giving extra care to your iPhone will not be any harm to u. just that u know that iPhone is not that fragile as u may think (only under "special condition" it will crack on normal height of drop)
just remember what string said before, a drop is a drop. better invest in iPhone case.

Yeah, I dropped in on tar road and the screen cracked. About 20% of the screen is cracked . About a couple of weeks or so after dropping, I started to have this problem where not all sms or calls were being received. Have not found a solution to this yet. and am not 100% sure if related to the fall or not.
