oh yea by the way, i asked vodafone staff
and they told me that if you buy an iphone directly from their website, you probably can get the unit in several working days.
something u might want to consider.
oh stringfellow, the seller even provided me his receipt with serial number matching my unit serial number etc etc from vodafone nz

purchased it at 979NZD.
the box was indeed opened but just out of curiousity.

he already had 2 iphone3gs (16gb) when he sold the phone to me and even showed me his phones to prove it:P
he bought extra due to the hype until he realized he had no use for it. LOL
some people are just plain rich.
someone just offered me 600NZD for 1st gen IPHONE 2.0 (8GB) fully unlocked by vodafone UK. is there really an unlocked set by vodafone uk and isit even worth it?
I dont want to make it look as if you have been conned, but since you say it was opened, it must have been activated inside the Vodafone store, a.k.a with a plan.
Take a look at this image:-

The iPhone actually costs him NZD449, and he sold it to you for NZD850. You did say he has a second unit, and if this seller is clever, he would have bought it outright at NZD979. So doing the calculations here, he get to keep his plan, using it with his second bought-outright-without-a-plan iPhone 3G, and made a cool NZD401 (NZD979-NZD449) profit out of you. It is a win-win situation here, but he won the most out of you, and if he really is planning to let you buy it , he would'nt have topped up to NZD400 for profit, that almost the price of the iPhone he got on plan. (NZD449).
For the guys who were in my Tumpang, and some who are still is, the units I'm getting for them are brand-new-never-opened units. They are still in their wrappings, and never activated. The ones with the plans already have Vodafone Sim cards come with them inside the iPhones, and therefore had to be activated in-store.
This was what I meant by buyers in countries where iPhones have launched taking advantage of those who are desperate to get one. You may not mind it, but technically, it is a second hand unit, and he is making an obscene amount of profit out of you. The NZD850 may look numerically cheaper than the NZD979 for the buy-outright option, but I wouldnt want those who are in my Tumpang list to get second-hand units. They deserve to get the item brand new for the price they are paying for.
