Does 2.0.1 give better overall response time on applications like Contacts, SMS, etc.? Or it doesn't actually do much help?

I don't plan to have Cydia actually. Never actually liked it. Good thing that Installer is included now, albeit is the beta version. I kept getting error 6 just now. Updated my iTunes to 7.7.1 and see how it goes. Ah yes, i did put my phone into DFU mode.

This is what i did. The same way i did with 2.0 which resulted in a success. 1. Browse the official 2.0.1 firmware 2. Build the custom 2.0.1 firmware - I did not select Cydia (tried selecting it but custom ipsw cannot be built) - Custom boot and restore image were selected - Everything else as per iClarified tutorial 3. Pwn iTunes with sucess 4. Put iPhone into DFU (positive about this. Black screen w/o iTunes logo) 5. Shift + Restore and selected custom firmware 6. Waited for 5 minutes and crash at "Preparing software for restore" 7. Error 6 occurs Take note that iPhone was connected to PC at all time. Also tried restoring to official 2.0.1 first before installing custom firmware, but to no avail. Thank you for any help. p/s: Oh by the way, i managed to see the custom boot logo before it gives me the Error 6 pop up. This post has been edited by zc_squash: Aug 10 2008, 03:10 PM |

All is well. Here's the combo:
Cydia + Boot Logo + 500Mb root partition I think the Installer could be the culprit. Thanks all for helping earlier. |

Glad to say that 2.0.1 does give noticeable improvement, especially with SMS and Contacts applications. Boot up take longer than usual, i feel. But that's ok because another 20-30 seconds don't make much difference to me. I can live with that. But here comes a very annoying 'bug'. I don't know if it is only me, but iTunes 7.7.1 don't seem to keep my iPhone settings intact. Eg: I checked the 'Manage music and video manually', clicked Apply, navigate to other tabs, and I expect the settings to stay. But, you guessed it, no it didn't.
