there's always Wii for those impressionable young kids
dunno what to say ler, kids nowadays grow up in a whacked-up world full of mixed messages. i'm sure local parents will appreciate some help/guidelines when it comes to "choosing" the right kinds of games software to buy for their kids. educating them on the ratings system/logo would be a good move. (when it comes down to it, the ratings are pretty similar across many regions US, PAL, Asian)
banning video game is not a good idea. why stop there? its not fair to blame video games. ban violent movies as well. no movies should be screened that involves guns and drugs.

Eh, Wii also will be banned. They will say that the kids will fight using the nunchucks and imitate Bruce Lee with the flying kicks and what not.
Or, they might say the nunchucks are lethal weapons for smashing tv screens etc.
CAP.....WHY SO SERIOUSSSS

I blame the parents. Look I played games ever since the age of 4 with the old monochrome screens. But without fail every evening my mom would take me to play badminton or swimming. When I got older I evolved and started playing football and even that my parents encouraged.
Nevertheless I still loved video games but knew my priorities because my parents thought me what my priorities are.
Parents should stand up, take responsibility for their actions and start paying more attention to their kids.
"If this particular video game is available in Malaysia, CAP calls on the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs to immediately halt its sales and ban this game."
sure does sound like some dude in CAP had a brilliant idea reading the report about the case in thailand. "why don't we suggest that we do the same in malaysia before anyone gets hurt?"
if i were CAP, i would concentrate on getting the people of malaysia buck up on consumer rights and proper customer service instead of calling for a ban on a video game that they hardly understand at all.
i also like the line: "Violent video games and television programmes have previously been linked to expressions of violence and aggression in young viewers. It is time for the authorities to act."
oh wow. no shit sherlock. says who? where are your facts CAP? where is irrefutable scientific proof? and for every study that CAP can google off the net, there are studies that says otherwise.
the bottom line is no one is sure what effects that violent video games (and tv programs) have on kids.
