How about Sigma APO 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM or Sigma 80-400mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG OS.

I've read many reviews especially on 80-400 saying that they are very good lenses.

QUOTE(empire23 @ Aug 11 2008, 10:45 AM)
Hasselblads are based on the 645 format (6cm x 4.5cm film), there are alot of systems out there that also use the same format, Rollei, PhaseOne, Sinar, Leaf, Mamiya, Fuji and others. But generally they can cost up to 100k ringgit with a top end digital back and lenses.

Well, Leicas aren't point and shoots because there's no LCD on them tongue.gif, they aren't film point and shoots either because they have optical guidance. But their optical guidance isn't like the used in SLRs where the image is taken from the lens. They're in a class of cameras called Rangefinders, where they have little optical rangefinders where 2 superimposed images are used to focus the camera (hard to explain, go midvalley Fotodata and molest a leica lah, only 9k for body only). There's only 1 leica digital camera and that's the M8, but old pros prefer the use of the film M6, M7 or MP with T-Max or Illford Delta (black and white film).

If one considers them point and shoots, they might as well be the most expensive PnS cameras out there. An M8 costs roughly 15k with the cheapest lens costing 5k, of course it's Weltzar quality. If you're totally nuts, you can buy a Noctilux, a lense of legendary quality for 20k, yes, lense ONLY. Hurrr. Plus there's no autofocus, auto mode, auto aperture, electronic aperture or even exposure lock on these cameras. It's a full manual. The leica MP doesn't even have electronics, film is spring wound on the MP.

is that hasselblads, Leaf u r talkiung about? that cost a hundred thousand man... doh.gif

fuyoh. reli quite yesterday the thread biggrin.gif
this debate will never end one ler...

for some they use a pic directly from camera, to some, like me sometimes, snapping a pic is just half the process

quoting the cranberries: no need to argue

(lately i PP a lot le, its addictive  icon_question.gif  )
yep, it will never end... everyone has their own preference...

one side talking about "my computer has the geatest specs, it crashes every computer"

the other side is about "just master how to use ur computer, and let it performs beyond what it can be"

anyhow, both produce decent pics... both have their own philosophies... and me got alot to learn from both.. laugh.gif

QUOTE(nicotine @ Aug 11 2008, 07:56 PM)
hi sifu-sifu .. i have some noob question to ask,

1) what is x stop down ? for example, lets say my cam is F2.8.. does 1 stop down means setting the aperture to F5.6 ? (x refer to number eg 1, 2 ,3 )

2) I tried my tammy 90mm macro, but most of my shot looks like shit the quality were on par with a +4 hoya filter on a kit lense, 90% of my shots using tamron 90mm on F2.8 setting were out of focus on 1:1 magnification ...  is this got something to do with depth of field?

thank in advance. notworthy.gif
*
well? i have no problem like u facing...

i shoot on manual quite often for now...maybe u shud try stay at shutter speed 1/250 sec and try to shoot from one angle meanwhile increasing ur aperture...

metering spot also one of the factor the focusing point is too shallow for a small object..always increase ur aperture....

hope i did help:)

At first glance I thought you said 30mm f1.4 HSM is going for RM1050. sweat.gif

Yea, it's still quite ok to use it for group shots compared to 50mm which is kinda not practical cause you need to step back alooooot.

if u dont have macro lens, try pair with 50mm f1.8

here's the samples pairing 50mm with raynox dcr250:

Well, since I'm not going to really go into macro...I'm just goina use it occasionally, so, why pay more when you know you are hardly going to use it right?
Besides...how could it be possibly be hard to use it? (Is it really that hard?)
Or, if there is a good macro lens I should consider getting. Which would not cost more then the raynox, then yes I would...
*
ok...its a magnifying glass sort of filter that can be attached to ur front lens...and that does not qualify as a lens...hence, its only rm250...

when u do macro with raynox with ue 50mm, u r actually very near to the object...u think the lalat will stay there for u to shoot until u satisfy?

unless u just wanna shoot those dead object..not moving object...

good macro lens less than the raynox price? i also want lor..... tongue.gif

lens reversal... u take off the lens from the body.. reverse it..
put it nice nice to ur body... (u must hold it..) then snap la..
(i think this is what u are talking about) 50mm 1.8 can be quite a macro lens weih using this way.. tongue.gif
*
ya i got a friend usually do that...he dropped his 50mm and cant repair anymore, he modified the front lens to a mount and turn it into a converter...but all became manual afterall...working fine though... thumbup.gif
