Qualification Round
Based on your online submission of stock and overclocked results of the same system, this round aims to assess and retain only 6 of the best possible contestants in each country who know how to maximise their system. More information and requirements at the registration page.
* » Countries qualified: Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia & Thailand
* » 6 best entries from each country qualify for Regional Semi-Finals (subject to validation at each country's local office)
Regional Semi-Finals
Regional semi-finals will be held in each participating country to determine the local HardwareZone Iron Tech 2008 finalists. Here's the rough contest format for each country:
* » The 6 best shortlisted candidates in each country will battle it out in a public competition.
* » A total of 30 contestants in all 5 countries.
* » Standardised set of PC hardware will be handed out.
* » First task is to assemble their rig as fast as possible. Time taken will be factored into final score.
* » Next, time is given to install the OS, necessary drivers/benchmarks and tweak their systems. Time taken to complete all these tasks will also be factored in.
* » Lastly, live benchmarking session commences with a couple of surprise benchmarks.
* » Details of hardware and benchmarks will be withheld to prevent prior practice. HardwareZone Iron Tech is based on the participant's existing skills and capabilities.
* » Best performance obtained is the main criteria, but time taken for previous tasks will contribute to bonus points.
* » The best 2 contestants from each country will then qualify for the Grand Final.
Grand Final
The grand final will be held in Singapore and the finalists from the other participating countries will be sponsored a flight to Singapore, with 3D2N accommodation, to compete for the coveted title of HardwareZone Iron Tech 2008.
* » A total of 10 finalists representing the five countries will fight for the coveted HardwareZone Iron Tech 2008 title.
* » Similar general flow to Regional Semi-Finals, but with modifications.
* » There will be an added element of suspense as finalists will be offered a spread of PC components to choose and to build their rigs. This is to give them free play and test their ability to judge the value of the products and its usefulness to satisfy the Performance-to-Price judging criteria.
* » Time taken to build and setup their rigs will also be factored into their final score.
* » There will also be yet another set of surprise benchmarks to make the contest more dynamic and truly distinguish the best PC tweaking guru who deserves the title.
* » No details will be revealed of the benchmarks or the hardware options provided.
* » System power consumption will also be weighted into the scoring.
* » Final scoring relies on achieving the greatest performance-to-price ratio while maintaining power efficiency, in addition to time taken for the timed tasks.
* » The exact weight of each scoring component will not be revealed until judgment.
