Good for u. I really hope DiGi 3G will be at my area soon. Last time I heard they plan to come in early 2009 here. So have to endure with Sialcom "3G" a.k.a wireless dial-up till that time. 98 a month for just browsing is crazy. Might as well pay for cyber cafe for surfing. Would probably cost less than 98 a month.

I cant stand being capped after 5GB. It is like Sialcom expect us to use unlimited bandwidth just for browsing. I cant hardly think anyone who can surf the net for hours without download or watching online video. How can they expect us to be fair when they set unfair rules?

Well, I was talking about DiGi 3G. I read that there are people testing it out. Commercially, they expect to enter by early 2009. I wouldnt want a EDGE or GPRS connection. DiGi might be able to offer better package. Or I hope at least a price war between the operators. Sialcom has geared up their advertising campaign for the last few months, if u havent noticed. Probably they want to get the customers before DiGi comes in. Plus the price cut in daily unlimited and some promotions. It sure looks like Sialcom trying to get a bigger pie before a newcomer comes in.

By right, Maxis should be able to provide better service than Sialcom but I think it is the influence of "G" that Maxis cant really grow that fast.

BTW, I just tested my speed... Result was kinda shocking.

See? Fast enough rite? But when I tested with a download, it is only 40Kbps... And it is direct download, not P2P. Sick!!! Wicked sick!!!

Dude, 400Kbps translates to 40KB/s. The speed showed in the speedtest is actually Kbps. So u got to divide it by 8 to get the actual speed for download a.k.a KB/s. If u say this is fast, 40Kbps translates to just ~4KB/s, do u want? Man, noe ur fact and figure or at least conversion rate doh.gif

I guess most of people will get slow speed, coz 5GB limit is certainly not enough. Well, for big portion of people. I also got alot of DCs few days back. But now, it is weirder, the network dropped me from HSDPA to GPRS, even after I selected 3G only. I don't think it is the signal strength. I have always gotten more than 4 bars constantly. Either they are doing on purpose or there is some malfunction in my area.

I did. For more than 10 times this month alone. There were so many problems this month. And whole lot slower. They also said "upgrading" for most of the time I called. They promised to fix it within 3 working days. Nothing will be fixed by then. And the whole complaint-upgrading excuse cycle continued... For more than 10 times... Plus I always got agitated after talking to the CS so kinda tired complaining now. I will just endure for awhile. Luckily I did go to my uni to update my Windows and anti-virus. 128Kbps "broadband" is so fast. "Twice" faster than dial-up. How great!!!

I just called to CELCOM again.
They said my payment cycle is on 24th every month.
Coincidently, today is 24th.
The Celcom personnel told me to wait for 24 hours then they will "REALEASE" my acccount!!!!
"REALEASE"!!!!
But every month i will received sms from Celcom telling me that payment has been updated in the account on 8th every month.
I doubted it will back to normal.
Let's wait for 24 hours see how it goes.....

My billing cycle is nearing too. Please tell me whether u got ur speed back.

Btw, y don't we make a poll on "Is 5GB a month enough?". I am not sure how other Sialcom 3G customers view this but for me, it is not enough. They should cap the top 10-20% of the heavy users. Not every single one who wins the "Congrats, u won our lucky 5GB lottery. From now on, ur speed will be upgraded from mere THREE POINT SIX "M"bps to ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT "K"bps. Please enjoy ur free upgrade and we wish for ur continuous patronage."

i gain back my speed today..n today is my bill cycle

seems that my line is uncapped today..yuuhuuu rclxm9.gif

so ppl i think most of our problems are due to our excessive usage..

so think twice before condemning Siowcom..

coz when u sign up this broadband, means that u agree with the fair usage policy..  rclxs0.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

agreed..5gb is not enough..give a figure like 20gb (like P1 wimax) n i will close my mouth

btw, according to their website, in the future, Siowcom will provide an option for u to buy more bandwidth if not enough...hhmm wut do you all think about this?

Talking about fair usage policy, I have 2 things to mention. 1st, the paper so-called "Agreement on Sialcom T&C" I signed was hardly readable. It is either made that way or my salesman used first-gen printer. 2nd, the salesmen of Sialcom are 99.9% scum. They claimed fastest and widest wireless broadband but never mentioned the 5GB policy. When I asked, they just said it is for "show". What show did they refer to???

Would I pay for more bandwidth? Maybe... If the price is right. Anyone can tell me what is the term for "unlimited" bandwidth + more bandwidth?
"Unlimited Ver. 2"??? "X-Unlimited"??? "Unlimited Blue Ver."??? "Unlimited Lee Hom Special Ed."???

Watch youtube everyday? Well, depends on how many hours every day. I cant be certain whether it is enough or not. U can try going online for an hour while keeping to ur normal routine. Keep track of how much bandwidth u use. Multiply it 4-5 times for 1 day. And 30 times a month. Then add 20% for occasional heavy surfing. That's roughly ur monthly bandwidth with no download wadsoeva.

Well, D98 may be worth it, may not be. Honestly, I am using D98 and hardly get above 200Kbps after my 5GB limit. Thanks to the cap... So it is basically worse than D68. It was a problem after 2 weeks or so since I used up more or less 5GB by that time. Worth it or not, it is a matter of perspective. For me, I am ok with 98. If u see it as extra RM30, it may seem alot. Break it down as RM1 per day. That sounds cheaper and more affordable rite? The important thing is it is all up to u and ur budget.

Wireless should be more expensive but not by a huge margin. Wireless technology has advanced exponentially for the past 10 years. By right the wireless implementation is cheaper than wired as a long-term investment. Wired broadband would require total overhaul of wiring, ports and etc. for upgrade in bandwidth. As for wireless, the matter is simpler. Just take it as upgrade from wireless g to wireless n. Or GSM 800 to 1800. Change a few parts and voila!!! Worse come to worse, just get a better modem to get faster connection. Is the price 68 and 98 justifiable for current standard? Yes and no. In Sialcom's view, the more expensive we pay, the faster the breakeven for their capital investment and etc. For us, totally not. Absolutely.

will daily unlimited have limit?

If I am not mistaken, 25GB a month. Check the T&C for daily unlimited. But ur speed is only up to 384Kbps. My opinion, not worth it. Total rip-off.

for daily unlimited is 1gb limit,,,
pay per use is 25gb.....who going to spend z$$ on this.....siaw..

Sorry for wrong information. I just remembered reading 5GB and 25GB and assumed it to be daily unlimited. Honestly it is ridiculous pricing from Sialcom. Let's see the pay-per-use. People will pay for each and every KB he/she using, yet there is a limit of 25GB... How is that justifiable???

Just like our "unlimited" yet limited... Honestly, there needs to be some other competitive telcos. Let China companies come in. Just see their improvement in broadband services. They start later than us. Now they have faster broadband services in most cities. Cheaper and more competitive. Take down Sialcom from monopoly and let it taste the bitter taste of defeat!!!
