For the milder waterspots....yes. Diluted vinegar would chemically remove the mineral deposits - waterspots. If it's already 'eaten' through or etched the paint/glass, diluted vinegar *could* remove the mineral deposits but won't remove the etchings.
*
how does one deal with that then?

also anyone can answer on the above?

if we can, what is the proper technique to perform it? just "swirl around" and pray you dont add additional swirl marks? lol

^^ To YOU only.

I have the clay, very good. It works like charm, have spare to let go. RM200 per piece. Friend-ly price to ICE fan~

I don't think polish with hand will add swirl mark, it all depend on when you are polishing make sure the surface is clean. Some thought that after washing the car, they can immediately polish (Most of the time, by hand).
*
so i take it that if you ensure the surface and polishing medium is clean, by hand or by machine isn't an issue? it's just simpler/easier by machine?

By polishing, I believe it will basically remove some of the clear coat where the scratches are. Using machine, you can have more even force onto the surface to get the more desire result.

Can say with machine, the result would be better, also kerja cepat skit.

I do think the polishing liquid is different as well, as in for hand use or machine use.

Still learning but to answer noob like you, piece of cake.

So, the clay ok not? Hand deliver to your office tomorrow.

too expensive broke atm lolz

maybe will look into investing in a rotating machine someday

have tried vinegar to remove watermarks on screen , didnt work at all . maybe need a higher concentration than supermarket brands  tongue.gif

instead, i used Waxcos watermark remover, works like a charm. Just do not get any on ur paintwork or you'll see bare metal in minutes  shocking.gif  shocking.gif

Any recommendations for good wax on dark coloured cars?

Am still using my Turtle Wax 'hard shell' spray on wax
*
turtle wax black box or maybe the upcoming 2013 meguiar's black wax kit thingy (not yet released, it may take a while to arrive malaysia)

guys, anyone interested in joining a bulk from autogeek.net ?

basically meguiar's products (and a ton other products they carry)

remember that amazon.com doesnt ship internationally for those products? well they do so long it is not custom product/aerosol, in which i have clarified:
QUOTE
The following are examples of custom items:
Car covers, seat covers, heat shields, floor mats, floor liners, etc.
Aerosol items are clearly marked on the product page. The items you
included links for are not aerosol items, they are pump sprays and are
available for international shipping.

All items that cannot be shipped internationally will state so on the
product page.

Best regards,

From the looks of it, you guys allows international shipping instead.
Although i've come to notice that you guys do not allow aerosol or custom
products to be shipped.

Please clarify what are custom products. As for aerosol products, does the
below qualify as such?

no idea, have to check out their listing price. typically even after shipping so long you can split between few items/people sharing shipping, it'll be cheaper than malaysia price

which buffer/polisher (rotational tool basically) you guys prefer?

between PC/griot/meguiar (from autogeek.net) it seems that griot has the best spec, best pricing, and lifetime warranty shocking.gif

meguiar's seem to be overpriced (for almost everything they carry, and this gets amplified with malaysia's rip off pricing lol)

HAHA! in my mind i read amazon! sorry man! !i remember seeing you posted autogeek.net also.. ok nice let me know..
*
no worries, i should've rephrased it a lil better too to be clear now that i've read my post back.

anyways i won't be exceeding 1k ringgit shipping so customs don't do proper assessment taxation on me (under rm1k generally it's just 10%) assuming i do get nabbed, which is fairly high chance if i am importing heavy liquids and a friggin DA polisher/buffer lol.

the fat chance i go shopping crazy i may as well just do it solo so don't hold your breath out on me. you could prolly even do it solo too if you split up the shipping cost among your items (obviously don't buy just 1 /very few items, and they DO require over usd100 for international shipping else they also don't want to do it at a loss, or so they claim anyways)
alternatively, you can even consider organizing your own bulk among other LYNers too wink.gif

I jsut got my shipment from Autogeek... 20% tax kena... My goods worth over RM1500 though.

Best of luck though... USPS sucks big time, and if you include shampoo/liquid... Chances are they will ask you to go pharmacy to get it tested one by one.
*
ouch how they going to test it? can elaborate on that please?

also:
http://www.autogeek.net/detailing-supplies-cart.html This item ships from the manufacturer via ground service. Expedited and international shipping are not available.
f*** lol

Anything in liquid form, depends on your luck, they will ask you to go pharmacy to test it. They treat it just like medicine/chemicals... Want to make sure it is safe... They will ask you what usage, how to use (demo), then they take a bit to test tube this and that :S...

But mind you, AG customer service and delivery can be godly good, or can be shit worst. I once bought a few gallon stuffs, I not sure if it is their packing error or the USPS stupid handling, it got burst and leaked half gallon, contaminating all my cloth in the same parcel. I made a complaint and they never responded.

The other time I bought only small items, I give them good comment, they immediately replied... doh.gif
Maybe next time I am gonna use forwarder service since they can provide DHL.

Let me know what stuff you buying, I might be "tumpang"ing for little stuff. If it is regarding Cobra, I've got hand on it already and I can tell you which to get smile.gif
*
i see thanks for the info. and y es, USPS delivery is horrible, had many shit experience with them sad.gif

btw between cobra and meguiar's cloths, id reckon cobra's better? whats the difference anyways?

also for optimum waxes, how does it compare to regular wax? (like meguiar's or turtle wax)

i am thinking, if the spray ons really work, perhaps i don't even need to get a DA polisher lol
my general understanding is that spray ons typically last a lot shorter than conventional liquid/paste wax that you use a buffing machine to spread/apply with

as for items i am getting, for starters is the DA polisher... that alone will take up rm400+
and my limit including shipping is under 1k haha

Meguairs cloth is nothing special, you can buy the same waffle weave that Megs marketed as Water Magnet for RM20 flat OEM. Exactly same stuff.

Cobra waffle weave on the other hand, is whole lot different story, pretty much I only need 1 cloth to dry up my whole car. It is much more thick and large in size. I can let you see the real thing for a comparison if you like.

For waxes wise, OCW is generally spray on and easy to apply with patented UV protection. You don't need a DA for waxing really. How does 1 month lasting sounds to you? And wax goes well along with Opti-Seal. But generally nowadays I uses Permanon for general protection, I did not use any wax already.

P/S: Owh, do let me know how much quota of your shipping left hehe... Since RM1000 to USD if really fast to fill up.
*
i see, thanks for the info on the drying cloths biggrin.gif

1 month lasting for OCW? still pretty good for spray ons imo!

hmm so many products to consider lol...

for the shipping, will let you guys know around mid/late jan then lol

What is OEM? You can have the water magnet rm20?? Wow..I bought water magnet for 50+ if not mistaken.

original equipment manufacturer. eg: how logitech supplies mouse for Dell systems, which makes them an OEM. or how intel provides processors for HP, same thing, they are OEM too.

need some advise, not sure whether its the rain or whatelse i cant think of...

any advise? im currently thinking of trying out permanon since its the cheapest solution for now..
*
you probably have dirt/grime build up somewhere (door handles?) and as rain occurs, the water flushes out some of those dirt and it instantly stains your vehicle. i was actually trying to find the video explanation of it however i can't so you'll have to look for it yourself sad.gif

Clay - Meguiars

Compound - Meguiars Ultimate Compound by hand

Wax - Turtle wax Express shine .
*
compound > polish (can get the turtle wax polish i guess? lol) > then wax smile.gif

but um, compound rubbing and polishing by hand, oh god lol... even with a DA polisher it takes time, manual hand.... sad.gif

ps: i'm going to go through the manual polishing method too, hopefully this weekend i'll get to start my detailing project and no more further delays

just applied Permanon Platinum last Saturday, now a short review after 2 days...

prep work before applying Permanon Platinum was shampoo with Meguiars Gold Class, claying with Hecta PL, then very light polishing with Meguiars Ultimate Polish to remove the stains, and then following up with another wass with Meguiars Gold Class again to make sure that all polishing residue has been removed..
*
maybe consider skipping this step and just wipe off the residues with a clean m/f cloth? because the car wash has gloss/lubricating properties which may hinder the bonding of your new wax/sealant (which in this case permanon platinum)
