cloth is everywhere..but try to get the microfibre cloth that there is no stiching on the edge..coz the edge can cause swirls ...try Ace Hardware..saw alot of microfiber cloth for oni RM5.90

Well first time I have came across it. smile.gif Lonewolf if right, in a haste to get them, I did not look to see if I can find other types that does not have stitches around the edge. Will have to fold them properly when I use them to avoid swirl. smile.gif

been trying using polish but still cannot shine like other parts. or maybe i need to polish a little bit longer like 30-45 minutes at the trunk surface till its hot? I'm using machine one. Dun have the meguiars polish (except, polymer sealant, show car glaze). i use polyglaze.

i sand using 1500 grit to get rid some minor scratch at bumper and polish it and it works. just not sure really need to sand the whole trunk or not just by oxidation
*
Whoa!!! Hang on there! Polish till it's hot, you mean like run the rotary polishing machine over the same spot for a long time. Ack! Don't do it.

I think it's time you have to face that maybe the paint in that area has been damaged enough hence waxing/polishing is not able to restore its shine anymore. Seeing your description, either try some other product or it may be time to look into some type of paint restoration process.

or maybe i need to sand it? it just not as shine like other parts. and not even 'chalky' yet. or maybe not correct technique?
*
I don't really know as I am not an expert on this. I would think your first step will be to go to an automotive paint shop and get their opinion. Once you have that, you can maybe look up information on the internet and see what other options you have.

Have you tried other products to see if it will help?

Maybe someone else can comment on this.

user posted image
pls advise. what's the steps need to be taken, if i skipped clay then how?
thanks! cos wanna prepare car for CNY mah.  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Swirl means the light minor circular scratches that you see when you look at the paint on your car against the sun light.

If you truly want to prepare your paint surface for the products you are using, my answer will be yes, you need to clay your car. It makes a hell of a difference and you will be able to feel the difference once you clay your car.

[edit] And nycs82 is not joking. It feels even smoother than babies backside!

hey, question. how does the so called applicator pad looks like?
sponge?
*
Are you asking about general applicator pad? The come in all types. I would suggest using the best microfiber cloth and fold it up to use as an applicator.

clay can only be used once?  unsure.gif any sifu here to advice?

I will not reuse mine. Compare your $XXX,XXXxxx.xxx car with a $10 clay bar. Worth it? You decide.

Only one ah.. you are again very lucky... I pretty much gave up on mine in terms of getting upset each time I see a dent from someone opening their door and banging into mine.

The passenger side is now filled with at least 5 dings, not counting the one where someone actually has their whole door scrape into mine... sad.gif cry.gif sad.gif cry.gif I can tell because it was at a time when I have not washed my car and I can see where it scrapes off the dust/dirt. Sigh... Sakit hati....

Those small dents can be fixed rite? Some paint shops got those 'vacuum' machine. Give it a try thumbup.gif RedBox, got any latest pics of your car? Wanna see drool.gif
*
Cost too much. Well, at least too much for what I can spend on now. There were some minor hail damage as well, not very visible until you actually spend time looking for it. About 6 months back, I took it to a body shop that does paintless dents/dings repair and it was going to cost about US$500 to US$600.

I feel that someone is still going to bump into my car with their door after I get it fix so until I can find a way of preventing or catching the culprit, I wasn't going to spend the money. What I thought about was installing cameras to record these *no good SOB* and make a claim to their insurance each time it happens. tongue.gif

I've got some pictures back on the first post but not any new ones. When I moved ISP, my website went offline but I got it on a different host now so it's back. I need to wash and detail my car before posting additional pictures. smile.gif

I have not had bad tar stuck to my car but I use clay to remove the normal grim/tree sap/etc. Check my post on the first page on the claying process. You should be able to buy it from auto stores.

egiewan has this to say on Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover. You might want to give it a try too.

tht's what i meant by the above. it rained & all hard worked gone. very tiring & heartache u know. sweat.gif

Well love it not easy... tongue.gif Anyway, satigue, it is going to be easier to clean if you detail your car properly say a few times a year. If you read my instructions in the first post, I only do proper detailing a few times a year. That will give it the protection it needs and at other times, I do quick detailing with the proper products to maintain cleanliness and shine.

Therefore, I don't think you can call it a waste fo time. smile.gif

Lots of great pictures and method. Looking back, I cannot believe it has been over 5 years since I wrote this. Just saw these water bead pictures, kinda therapeutic. LOL
