Honestly I feel people forgot the pre-BC situation when Warr where actually the only real tank around (lol protadin...)

I played a tank warrior all the time pre-BC. I played a protadin in BC and tanked everything in Kara (it's only an alt ^^).

Lots and lots of warrior players in BC have forgotten what is it of multi-tanking as a warrior and how you are supposed to it. I have rarely seen warrior willing to tank more than 2 mobs, I personally blame arena and how warrior are becoming pvp fotm but that's another subject...

Not trying to be a smart-ass, but solo tanking UBRS as a warrior is/was more difficult than tanking anything in Kara from a "keeping aggro point of view", at least I feel like it. Some of the pulls there had 6 mobs (If I do remember the number properly from the room between the Beast and Drakki which are the bigger pulls).

6 mobs, 1 tank, sure you have 1-2 cc going on but that was about it.

It all comes down to how smart the 9 others are and if they know how to:
- Do not start with big heals before I had the time to generate some kind of aggro on the non cced ones.
- Dps for god sake, please focus fire and do not all decide to kill your own target ^^

I was sometimes literally sweating when tanking because of the dps tard you were always getting when pugging UBRS... tongue.gif

For sure your warrior was at least not a noob to be able to solo tank Kara though, kudos to him, but it's indeed perfectly feasible if he know his stuff and the group is not full of dumbos smile.gif

Hunters can quite easily tank the red beam too. Just have to straf in and out of it to avoid the stacks going to high but it's pretty easy. I think we had some healing specced pallies as well jumped in.

Anything wearing mail or above could do it (+bears of course) if they know how to straf in and out.

Taken from Wowwiki Netherspite

* Perseverance (red) - Tank beam:
o Lasts for 20 sec after leaving the beam.
o Hits Netherspite:
+ Damage taken reduced by 1% per tick.
o Hits Player:
+ Netherspite will aggro you.
If no one is standing in the Red Beam, Netherspite uses his standard aggro table.
+ Damage taken is reduced by 1% per tick.
+ Defense is increased by 5 per tick.
+ Health is modified - the first application gives +31,000 maximum health, with additional stacks reducing maximum health by 1000 per stack.
+ Replenishes full health every tick.

Basically any class jumping in the red beam would get the +31K max health and get resplenished each tick.
Just that a clothie or a rogue could get one shotted between the tick which is why you usually let a mail or plate wearer take them.

By strafing in and out of the beam you can avoid stacking too many buff (which reduce the max health) and let the beam put you back to full health.

It's totally possible for a healing pally to go in since aggro is not an issue, they wear plate and a shield. Just that they might not be healing much if they are going in/out of the beam since they suck at healing on the move.

You can get really unlucky and get badly mauled as a hunter if the attacks from the Boss and the tick from the beam are very badly synchronized but we have done it with hunters very often and it's totally viable.

Netherspite is all about "dancing" around the beam and make sure people know what to do and when they have to do it.

Actually the most important beam is by far the green one, if it touches Spite because the person who is supposed to be in at that phase is slow, it sucks since it heals the boss by a lot.
